Poli Cave House Santorini — Hotel in Municipality of Thira

We booked this property for a two-night stay, but on the first night, while using the hair dryer provided in the room, the power suddenly went out, the dryer exploded, and we saw electrical sparks flash through the room. We were absolutely terrified.

We contacted Monica in the middle of the night, but instead of offering support, she blamed us and showed no empathy or concern for our safety.

The next day, we were so shaken by the experience that we checked out early and booked a different accommodation at our own expense, just to feel safe. Despite everything, they never checked on us afterward, and instead demanded we pay for the broken hair dryer, which is outrageous given that we were simply using what they had provided.

If you have any concern for your personal safety, I would strongly caution against staying at this property. Not only were our concerns dismissed, but the hosts also shifted the blame entirely onto us. Very disappointing and absolutely not...

WE IGNORED THE REVIEWS, DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE MADE! The house itself is okay despite still having electricity issues which were solved promptly. However, the owner is completely insane. Our group has been constantly harassed throughout our stay by the owner, while spied on by the owner’s husband who would stay above the yard on a balcony at night while we were sitting at the table there. Also she would tell us to lower the umbrella at night on account of “wind” but it was actually to allow the husband to spy on us and take photos of us. One night we confronted her on the grounds of her constantly looming over us and she started spewing racist slurs at us and saying that she will throw our luggage out and that we will sleep in the streets.
