Old compound with impressively small bedrooms for a huge family, a kitchen where the wood oven could only be used 5 times a year and with the small stoves used regularly instead, a storage for oil, meat and dried bread, tools for female and male occupations (from treading to distillery activities but also for blacksmiths, carpenters and leather artisans) all located in cave capable of maintaining the temperature at 20 degrees all the year around. Read moreThis is the best museum on Santorini!especially if you want to get a feel for what life was like on Santorini, they even have their own church. The home which features different rooms of a home from half a century ago. All the original home decor from linen, to the kitchen equipment, storeroom,workshops and winery and a cave like area underneath that was used for mining(where you will find you are under the road). The guide was amazing so informative and interesting to chat to about life in this house. We thoughrally enjoyed this museum and guided tour and it was a highlight of our trip on Santorini....

We saw a real, preserved home (bedrooms, furniture, items, kitchen, etc.) and workshops (primary exports of the island)- with a lot of good knowledge and info from the tour guide. The tour guide/ museum manager was a kind and friendly woman; we join an existing tour a quarter of the way in- she let us join in, and once everyone else left, gave us a tour of things...
