This place seems over hyped and I’m not sure if the hype comes from staff farming reviews or from customers. First of all, one of the women who works there isn’t great at hospitality. Seemed to get mad about silly things, she told us not to drink water bottles by the pool which had been provided by the hotel, given to us in our room. Literally said to hide the water bottles, from who??? Isn’t restaurant owned by same person as hotel? Just a bit of a weird vibe from her, seemed to be looking at us a bunch maybe wanting us to order more. But we weren’t informed of any required spend for hotel guests. -Then my sister ordered the fava bean…bartender came over and said “do you want something to dip that with like bread? It’s kind of plain by itself”. Ok but you have it on your menu by itself. She paused and said ok….i thought maybe the bread was included. Got the check and it was 5 euros for the bread, he never mentioned a cost. Not a big deal but he’s right the fava would be weird on its own, so you should just include the bread with it in the dish and price accordingly. Just seemed really odd. I don’t know what would we have done otherwise? Eat the dip solo with a spoon? -Had breakfast the prior day too. The food was ok. But given how high the restaurant is rated on TripAdvisor and price, I expected more. Atmosphere was nice, good decorations. They have live music sometimes so I’d maybe come back to hear that but would probably just do drinks at the bar if...
Read moreWe dined/had lunch at the restaurant a couple of times as we were staying at the property. While the location is beautiful and the staff nice, the cost/quality of the restaurant is not what I would have expected from the reviews. The appetizers are nice, the fava in particular, but the main dishes are less convincing. The impression we got is that they were too elaborate for their own good: the risotto had too many elements and too much cheese, so in the end it was really heavy and difficult to finish. The flavour of the stuffed squid was overpowered by the cheese in the stuffing so the actual taste of the fish was missing, which was a pity. The sauce of the pizza was also not great, bit acidic.
Moreover, the prices are really high - even for an island that is per se on the pricier side, I was really surprised by how much we ended up spending. Lots of restaurant on the island make you pay for the bread, but that's generally when you order it - if you just bring it to the table and then it's 5 euros, it's a tad annoying. In sum, I think the restaurant is aiming for a level of sophistication in its offer that it has not reached yet, and I would generally expect a better result if the main dishes were stripped of some elements and the taste was more at the center. I did appreciate that there were vegetarian and vegan options...
Read moreWe found this place on tripadvisor, as one of the best restaurants in fira. As soon as we got here, we fell in love with the location, it was really beautiful, and so we were expecting some good food. First of all they brought as a menù which didn't have all the plates as the online one, but that may have been a mistake on our part. We ordered a starter and a pasta plate each. The appetizers were okay, definitely pricey, but still pleasant to eat. The pasta was not. Definitely overpriced for the quality, there was no flavour which really detached from the rest of the plate, salt was missing, in general the food was bland. I'm really sorry to write this review as we really didn't expect this, and maybe our food standards are different or we were just expecting too much, but i wouldn't recommend to go here for anything other than looking at the pool. The service was ok, i'm giving 3 stars as sometimes they would whisper something, and if you didn't understand something, they wouldn't repeat. All in all it was not worth the price, considering we didn't even get any kind of fancy...
