Directly across a narrow channel of water from Poros Town is the less famous town of Galatas which is on the Peloponesse.|Numerous taxi boats are available throughout the day to transport you quickly and efficiently across the water for 1 EU each. The ride takes less than 3 minutes. A car ferry is also available ( 5EU for the car and 1 EU each ).|If you are visiting Poros, staying in Galatas makes a good deal of sense in that accommodation costs are substantially less than you will find on Poros.|To that end, I unreservedly recommend Hotel Papasotiriou, a family operated hotel ( 33 rooms ) in the heart of Galatas. One can hardly miss it as it has the only neon sign in town.|The hotel, although not luxurious, is comfortable with great views of the water and Poros Town with its pastel buildings and tiled roofs.|In addition to an economical stay, the staff ( Angeliki and Marina ) will ensure that you are comfortable |Another advantage of staying in Galatas is that day trips by car ( approximately 40 EU ) to places like Hydra, Spetses, Epidavros and Nafplio are easy. |Enjoy Galatas...

Highly recommend this place if you are going to Poros. The ferry to Poros is between 1-1.3 euros and runs about every half hour (and takes all of about 5 minutes. You can see this hotel while on the shore at Poros). I saved quite a bit of money by staying here instead of Poros and taking a day trip by ferry to Hydra instead of staying there.

The rooms are clean, you have hot water, not sure what else you'd need.

One of the worse places i have ever been. Visited on February and there was no heating, nor the very old and unservised airconditiong worked. Sheets were wet with moisture due to humidity. I had advised them i was visiting with my family and my 1 year old son and they did not bother to inform me about the conditions. The "civil servant" stile of person in charge was the worst example of the famous Greek hospitality and as a Greek i am insulted. |They should give this hotel to someone who has the will and the energy to run it professionally instead of maintaining this...
