We had a brilliant 2 week holiday in Skiathos. Myrtia Village is in a beautiful setting and the food at the on-site tavern is absolutely delicious; we ate there many times. They do breakfast, lunch and dinner and the service is fantastic. Andreas, his wife and the waiting and bar staff are so smiley and friendly, it really made a difference to our experience - thank you! I agree with previous reviews about the pool sunbed situation and the dated apartments. Luckily we had a refurbished bathroom but the rest was very basic and the bed very hard. However, we still rate 5/5 because for a couple it was good value for 2 weeks in August and the tavern boosts the rating! |The supermarket is a 5 min walk, we bought all our supplies from there although as we didn't eat in for dinner at all I don't know what their range is like. |Koukanaries beach is a 10-15 min walk and has nearly-white, soft, sparkly sand (the sea is crystal clear and warm (in August) no matter where you go). A pair of sunbeds with parasol is €30 (this price at many other beaches too!) and get there early (before 11ish) as they get snapped up. It's a busy beach (with plenty of space to lay towels) and even lovelier before the crowds arrive. There are watersports and a water taxi to Skiathos Town (€6) but this is at the far end of the beach which is a bit of a trek. |Stunning sunset at Mandraki beach which you can walk to, although we got the bus and then walked the rest (15 mins).|We walked through the forest to Elia beach which had good waves and €15 a pair sunbeds.|We used the excellent bus service (every 10 mins until 1am from Skiathos Town) to get to many different beaches, all smaller than Koukanaries. Again, get there early for a sunbed or to lay towels as they were very busy. We also used the bus to get to Skiathos Town and various other stops along the route to different tavernas (26 bus stops, Skiathos harbour/town is 0, Myrtia is 23, its €2 or €3 single depending on distance). We would recommend joining the Facebook group with lots of taverna reviews. In 2 weeks we never had a bad meal and the service is always great. Would recommend the Skiathos Palace rooftop restaurant (walkable from Myrtia) as the views are incredible, especially at sunset. The two restaurants near Myrtia - The Big Bad Wolf (Greek) and Ottimo (Italian) are excellent. |A boat trip to Lalaria beach (NE of island) is a must, we have been to 'Blue Lagoons' before but this place is something else. You can book a trip at the harbour in Skiathos. |We also recommend the Tui Sailing Cruise (although the boat does not operate under sails!) It was worth every penny to be just 12 of us on the boat, 4 stops at stunning coves and an amazing lunch. |We also did the Tui Mama Mia cruise which is brilliant for fans to see the film locations, although the constant soundtrack playing does get a bit much. We went up to the church in a minibus from one of the beaches for an extra €15. In Skiathos Town you can sit and have a drink where Harry and Sam miss the ferry! Skiathos Town is pretty; busy but not commercial|After 2 weeks we still did not want to come home, which tells...
Read moreI think most reviewers have summed it up perfectly: Myrtia Summer Village is a little gem on this beautiful island.||As of 1st July 2025, it’s officially a 3-star hotel, and yes, that’s down to the rooms. Ours was perfectly fine but basic: the bathroom was modern, the air-conditioning worked a treat, and everything was spotlessly clean. The entire complex is kept immaculate – from the pool area to the walkways – and the staff clearly take great pride in it. Everything else in the room was pretty simple, but we didn’t mind one bit. We don’t go on holiday for flat-screen TVs or ironing boards – the bed was comfortable enough, the fridge kept the wine cold, and the sink and cooking area, while dated, did exactly what they needed to do.||But let’s be honest: the real magic here isn’t the rooms – it’s the pool, the tavern, and the people. The pool is spotless, the setting is gorgeous, and the food from Andreas and his team is some of the best on the island. He remembers your name, chats whenever he can, and makes you feel like part of the family. We hired a car for the week and ate in several restaurants – including the fabulous Salt and Pepper – but the meals at Myrtia were every bit as good.||A few practicalities: yes, your luggage is taken from you at the airport and delivered straight to the hotel – and the same on the way back. Yes, the coach drops you off at the end of the road and you walk the final few minutes. The road is well lit, cars drive slowly, and there are always other guests coming and going. Unless you really struggle with uneven ground, it’s no issue at all. Skiathos is still delightfully rustic and unspoiled – that’s part of its charm – and Myrtia fits in perfectly with that atmosphere.||We’re first-timers here, and we’ve already decided: we’ll definitely be back.||Oh, and while we didn’t use the buses, plenty of other guests raved about them – apparently, a popular tip is to catch the boat from the beach into town and the bus back.||In short: if you want five-star luxury, look elsewhere. If you want charm, warmth, spotless surroundings, and an unforgettable poolside taverna – Myrtia Summer...
Read moreWe stayed here 1st to 15th August, first time to Skiathos. This hotel is set in a beautiful location surrounded by pine trees , approx 10 minutes walk from bus stop 23. On arrival, we were greeted by Nikos and shown to our room. Rooms are basic but adequate and comfortable. We absolutely loved the hotel, the pool is lovely and refreshing with lots of sun beds. The first week of our holiday we had no issues getting a sun bed at 10.30 am, unfortunately on our second week there were quite a few large families at the hotel putting towels out very early and many times not using them for the rest of the day ( or coming and going in relays, never all using them at the same time) this did put a damper on using the pool however this is down to the English guests not the hotel. |Huge selection of books in reception so plenty of reading material. Nikos is always available if you need him ( we didn’t as everything was perfect) , the rest of the staff are so friendly and welcoming. |Now onto the restaurant run by Andreas and Blerta. From the moment we arrived they greeted us like long lost friends, asking about our day, giving us tips on the best beaches, bus routes and all things relating to Skiathos. Service was always first class, they knew our drinks, checked in on us throughout our meal and created the most amazing atmosphere. The food was out of this world, we tried a good variety of food on the menu ( lots to choose from) and every meal was delicious and home cooked. This is the first holiday we have had where we didn’t have a bad meal and were excited to eat every day. Saturday night is Greek night and this is not to be missed! Beautiful variety of food, Greek dancers and of course, lots of opportunities to join in and make some friends. Even if you don’t stay at Myrtia, go down and sample their beautiful food and hospitality, you will not be disappointed ! |Would we visit again ? Absolutely! We would go back tomorrow ! |So a very big thank you to all at Myrtia Summer Village for the wonderful holiday, we will...
