The Louloudis hotel is lovely. Very clean, comfortable. All of the staff we met, from the housekeepers, serving team, to those on reception, were just so friendly and polite. Really relaxed feel to the place. It was VERY quiet locally though when we stayed (the second week in June), in fact the area was almost deserted until mid week.|The room we had at the hotel was spacious, well furnished and maintained. Comfy beds and pillows. Good shower. TUI Rooms 213,214,215 were mid floor- faced away from driveway, sea view and had afternoon sun. Air con €6 per day which we paid as it was humid..|Bar and dining area as well as the pool were immaculate and relaxing. |Breakfast was similar each day, but not identical, and there was enough choice available to vary your selection regardless. It was all good quality and plentiful. Other meals at the hotel (lunch/dinner) when taken, were good too. |Locally, the nearest supermarket type shop is approximately 3 km away, but buses stopped on the road at the top of the hotel driveway up to 6 times a day back and forth to Thassos town (Limenas) and or past the supermarket in the other direction. Bottled water was €2 per large bottle from the hotel. We bought it on a trip to Thassos town as it was much cheaper and brought it back to the hotel. Car hire is available through reception if you want more flexibility or to go further. |Away from the hotel to the beach is min 5- max 10 minutes walk depending on where your preference to sit is. With the hotel behind you, to the right is the quieter area of the sandy beachfront. Only 2 places of note, first is Atki Belvedere. This is a hotel but has sunbeds on the stretch of beach in front, that can be used as long as you buy drinks from the snack bar during the day. Very friendly and no pressure sales. Food not great though!!! and maybe it was bad luck or a pure coincidence, but we were sadly VERY unwell the first 24 hours of our holiday and the only place we ate during that time was the snack bar/ restaurant there. You don't know or see the name of it unless you approach it from the road angle so just be aware. Further right is a (mostly) fish taverna but has plenty of other traditional meals. It's called Glifoneri. Again approached from a side road only, not via beachfront. To find it, keep going round the corner/bend of the road, it's worth it. It has a small sandy cove next to it. No umbrellas but plenty of natural shade and just 2-3 dozen sunbeds for use if you buy drinks/snacks at the taverna. Eating there at night is well worth a try. Very friendly staff, great food and a proper Greek eatery and atmosphere. Local music/band there on a Tuesday. |Back with the Louloudis hotel behind you, to your left this time , there are 3-4 beach bars. |First one is fine- drinks, sunbeds, sea. |The second is the Louloudis beach bar. Same but a bit livelier, can use sunbeds if buy drinks/ snacks from there. All good. |Sentido Thassos Imperial hotel has beach beds too and a restaurant. Didn't use the restaurant as it didn't look very Greek or authentic from what we could see.|From then on, it's ok if you want boom. boom. boom. Music often loud and a bit too Benidorm for us, but hey, each to their own. Also the sunbeds that end are so close together the person next to you can trim your toenails whilst they lie there because they are so close. |To eat, if you keep on walking you will find the Pefkospilia taverna. Like the Glifoneri, this is definitely worth a visit. Great service, food and an idyllic setting, literally on the waters edge. If you cant stand walking through the beach bars to reach it, you can get there via the road easily in less than 10 minutes after turning right out of the hotel road/ driveway. Can't miss it on the right. |That's it really, nowhere else we could find to eat a proper meal as opposed to a burger or pizza which we personally don't go to Greece for. For us and of course it's down to personal choice, the thing that lets the area down is the lack of proper places to eat and Greek tavernas. We only found these 2 places. All ok for a week away, but would be a bit monotonous for any longer we felt. |The Louloudis however is a genuinely lovely place and is totally recommended. |Sophia is the star of this place along with the 2 ladies waiting on tables at breakfast. Would we stay again? Yes, definitely, but in our view it's a high end 3 star, not a 4 star though.|Don't forget your mosquito spray! and don't go if you've a fear of wasps (locals call them Bees) They are everywhere when you are eating. |Hope this review helps...
Read moreSpent 11 nights at Louloudis on a Tui last minute deal. Agree with previous reviewer - limited information given regarding aircon, safe etc on arrival. No Tui info in reception, no rep - if you have a question you have to use the App. Not particularly helpful. Rooms are clean but basic. Bathroom ready for an upgrade particularly the shower. Towels clean but definitely not white & fluffy! Small balcony but served its purpose. You have to ask for kettle and cups. Coat hangers limited. Fridge & air-con were very noisy at night. If you don’t need the fridge - switch it off. Communal areas are better than the rooms. Breakfast ladies are superb. We didn’t use the pool as prefer the beach. Cost of air-con, safe & room tax adds to your holiday cost so need to factor in 15 euros a day for all three. We used the beach near Akti hotel - beds free if you purchased a drink. Other sun beds further down the beach (think Benidorm edge to edge beds, boom boom music, ) varied with a minimum spend of 40 - 60 euros. This included Louloudis own sunbeds near their beach bar. Heard a number of guests at the hotel complaining however, it is relatively easy to spend 50 euros a day with drinks and food but seems an odd way to sell sunbeds especially if you are staying at the hotel. We disliked that end of the beach and stayed at the more authentic Greek end . There is a small bay near Gilfoneri taverna but it gets very busy. Note unless you have a car there are only two restaurants available - Glifoneri or Pefkospilia . (See separate reviews). We went into Thassos town on the local bus for a change of scenery and more restaurant choices. Thassos town |(Limenas) is a mix of traditional Greece and ‘run down’ areas. It was a shame to see the abandoned buildings covered with graffiti. You need to taxi back - 18 euros. Skala Rachoni is a 35 minute walk - from Louloudis - ok for a change but caters very much for the Eastern European clientele. The walk back along the main road can be a challenge if it’s getting dark. We did visit Panagia on the local bus - lovely day out highly recommend. Our first time to Thassos - maybe we will be back at some point but to a different part of the island . As we left it was getting much busier - I’m not sure I would want to be there at peak time. |Louloudis is a nice hotel but it could be better with some room TLC and more information and time...
Read moreFirstly this a great location, just 100m from the sea and the good thing about Thassos is provides safe bathing as most of the beaches appeared to be shallow. |We arrived to be told our room wasn't ready - great start - maybe an hour, may be longer, but another lady arriving with us, her room was ready (?), then other guests turned up and again, one room was ready the other not. Eventually, after about 45 mins, we were advised that the room was ready. So up to the room on the 3rd floor (no lifts but not a problem) and the two cleaning ladies were just leaving the room and I noted the towels and kettle being removed. Inside, the room was quite spacious, nice balcony and bathroom but no towels or kettle.|A bit annoying that we had to pay extra for the air con' (7 euros per day) and safety box ( 3 e per day) but I paid the money and went back up to the room....couldn't get the air con' to work...so back to reception...'i'll be up soon'...back up stairs, saw the cleaning ladies, asked how to get the air con' working but their english was not good, but eventually pointed out that as the balcony door was open, the air con' wouldn't work...nice touch but why wasn't that explained to me ! Air con' sorted now the safe.. no instructions so back downstairs to reception..."I'll be up soon"...so back upstairs. Not long later, receptionist arrives and explains the safe needed new batteries and master key and disappears back downstairs and returns with batteries and enables the safe to work. Oh and can we have towels and a kettle please ? which arrived a short time later. |That initial experience spoilt our first impression of the hotel, the rest of the week was great, staff super friendly, breakfast lovely, pool looked nice but we didn't use it preferring the sea. There is unused large balcony at the front of each side of the third floor that we used for Pilates ....strange it wasn't utilised at a sun deck.|The following morning, the receptionist explained that there had been a large wedding and many guest had left the morning we arrived and with only two staff cleaning the rooms, it had been a rush to get rooms ready - well why didn't you tell us that on...
