This hotel is actually OK, basic and clean facilities that offer good value in a stunning location. My 1 star review is to account for how badly they are treating access to one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. There are several options to get to Plaka beach but if you are driving and want to park nearby then the Hotel Eden car park is your only option. You are charged 20 Euros per car to park but this is not clear until you arrive at the bottom of the narrow steep road and are greeted by an ugly barrier with a STOP sign. If you want to use the sunbeds that they provide then be prepared to pay 3 Euros per person extra. 14 of the 20 Euros can be redeemed for drinks at the bar but in total if there are 4 of you in a car be prepared to pay up to 32 Euros!
What really bothers me is that they also have illegal signs that suggest you can't bring your own food and beach umbrellas/ chairs. OF COURSE YOU CAN! Every beach in Greece is public land, there is no such thing as a private beach, it is a big part of what makes Greece such a beautiful and accessible place to visit. There is a really positive movement in Greece this year to "reclaim the beaches" from some of these private enterprises that put out a lot more umbrellas and sun beds than they are entitled to. So if you are not using their equipment and want to pitch up on your own and bring your own food, THEY CAN'T STOP YOU. If you park, pay and they tell you that you can't I would suggest you laugh in their face and ask them to call the police. I experienced the staff speaking really rudely to beach goers and it is illegal for them to treat this gem as a private beach.
Also strangely, the taverna that is on this beach and part of the Hotel Eden complex is only open for "take away", really odd and not offering a great service for guests.
So overall I would say stay in this hotel if you chose, it's OK, but do not drive here to access this beach, find another way to get here and stop the rude staff from making such a huge profit from their parking monopoly and...
Read morewe were skeptical because of the other reviews. we arrived late and tired and were received like old friends. the hotel is simple and basic yet the rooms are not too small and the shower decent compared to Greece standards, and cleaned every day. the setting is unbelievable! set on the best beach we could dream of (and we have been on many beaches in the world). since we came in September the beach was almost private, made of fine extremely pleasant crystals like god's natural spa. the water is clear and transparent and there is a small spring falling thru the hotel down on the beach just to perfection. If you are luck you can see Dolphins swimming in the background, we actually met them when we took a boat ride! Rania is the friendliest most honest manager we've met, no pretenses. she went out of her way to make us happy, made special vegan food for us and was always available. the hotel is simple and the beds could be a bit better but if you are not looking for luxury, you cannot find a better one.The village is a short beautiful walk along the beach and has everything you need, our favorite restaurant was acroyali . some evenings we were too tired to go so we ate in the hotel and the food was very nice too.||we came for 3 days and stayed almost a week, 2 parents and 3 teenagers who just did not want to leave. we all would love to be back. I think it is difficult to explain the wonderful atmosphere the place and the people who run it create. we are very grateful for this perfect holiday to Rania and to our friends who recommended the place and made us ignore the bad reviews. ||for those who cannot disconnect-wifi is free but is stronger around the lobby than...
Read moreUpdate 1 day later: The hotel chef and owner unfortunately didnt take the opportunity to find out if we wanted to eat at their restaurant the next day, and if yes, what we would want to eat. As they had very very few visitors, this is not a tall expectation in a family-run business in my opinion. As a result, our group was split and some had to walk to eat (walking is a problem for 2 in the group). In addition, they tried to pass off pork as beef - quite unacceptable! For the owners, I would hope that they take this as positive criticism - the hotel and location is stunning! On the upside, the Beach bar at the bottom is excellent with excellent customer service - highly recommended. And the drinks are super - delicious! Yummmm! -----‐-------------------------------
Exquisite hotel with perfect location. We are a group of 7 people - 2 couples, a father and son, and a single person. The owners are lovely, warm people who are so ready to please. They will accommodate their visitors with a quick sincere smile. The beach bar closes at 7pm, but Rania will be happy to stay if the group is fun and lively and dances to Greek music! You will hear the sea from your room, and if you wake up early, you will see the sunrise. Stunning. The beach is beautifully serviced. The hotel restaurant has great fresh food. We have yet to travel in the area, but from the drive-by, it looks quaint and seriously cute. If you are looking for excitement, this is not the best place. Great for small children (there are individual pools by the beach). For teens, it might be...
