This is a 5 star beach but I'm giving it 1 star to explain why on earth anyone would give this a negative review. It is all about access and facilities. Let me explain, if you are driving you basically have three options to get to this beach.
Option 1 is to drive your car all the way down to the Hotel Eden entrance and park very near to the beach. The car park though is private land and the rude staff will charge you 20 Euros per car (latest price as per summer 2023) which is 6 Euros for the parking and the remaining 14 can be redeemed for drinks at the bar. If you want to use a sun bed you have to pay 3 euros per person extra. So if there are 4 of you in a car be prepared to pay 32 Euros!
Option 2 is to park in the northern end of Agios Ioannis and walk across to Plaka beach. The problem with this is that parking is also difficult here in peak season but the most difficult thing is the footpath across. There was a landslide a few years ago that blocked the path, you can still walk there but it is quite dangerous now, be prepared to do some rock climbing! Not suitable for young children.
Option 3 is to try and park somewhere further up the hill before you get down to Hotel Eden and walk down the alternative pretty stone path. This takes about 10 to 15 minutes and the path can be seen on Google Maps. (don't try and walk down through the hotel, they will send you back!) Problem here again is the narrow road with limited parking.
My general advice is pick whichever option suits you best but whatever you do, get here early, especially in peak season to avoid the crowds and car madness. This beach is absolutely stunning and a must visit while in Pelion.
PS: if you are staying somewhere nearby that is walkable then enjoy this beautiful beach and don't...
Read moreThe beach is nice and big. You have a section for towels and one for sunbeds only. The sunbeds are 6 euros, but you need to pay right when the order is being brought. Not like on Papa Nero Beach, where you pay everything at the end. It's a pebbles beach, it's not like the regular sand but small little rocks, which are very nice. There is a bar, but the staff doesn't understand English very well, and not very polite. The staff from. Eden hotel are rude, we came by foot, on a very long road, and they made us turn back because the entrance to the beach was their parking lot. They deserve - 1 star. It's fast and worth it to go from Agios Ioannis by foot on the rocks from the golf. Also not phone service...
Read moreThe beach is very beautiful and clean. You can park beside the road (limited space to be honest) use the path that leads to the beach without needing to pay for parking or pay to pass through the hotel's gate!!. In the beach you can use the facilities that are there (restaurant, beach bar, sunbeds, wc etc.) but there is no need if you come prepared with your coffee, snack etc. A huge plus is that there is natural shade by the rocks and trees so umbrella is not mandatory. Also note that cell...
