The En Cora Vezitsa (along with its tavern below, the "Zagorìcion Gefsis") are two out of a total of 5 (methinks) accommodation/catering facilities in Vitsa village, so this may give you a hint of how small and secluded the village is. Both Vitsa and the village further up the mountain (Monodendri) are on a dead end road leading to one of many footpaths of Vikos Canyon hence the place lends itself to hikers and nature lovers alike. Ioannina (the largest city nearby) is about 40 minutes away. The hotel has medium size rooms which are cozy if not luxurious. The hotel has some mileage on its walls and wooden floors and it's carpets will need a thorough cleaning very shortly, but with a little bit of maintenance this place would turn into a very beautiful and relaxing getaway. I think it's ideal for couples. A few complaints are: Breakfast was really poor, and the room has no air-conditioning (which is perfectly reasonable for a winter resort, but will make for a slightly uncomfortable stay during the summer as temperatures in this area...
Read moreRead moreWe were traveling by car from Amsterdam to Mongolia, but then corona caused a 2 month lockdown in Greece. When restrictions were lifted we traveled via Kalampaka (Meteora) to Vikos gorge. We stayed in ‘En Chora Vesitza’ for about a week and loved it! Maria and her family are very kind! We stayed in room 11 which had a small fridge. From the area Monodendri/Vitsa this felt like one of the nicest places to stay. ||Positive: |- No corona |- The beautiful square with 600 year old characteristic tree. |- Cosy and warm lighting outside. |- The food (!) both breakfast as dinner. We really enjoyed. |- The hiking tips with transfer back from Vikos (when hiking the Vikos gorge). We especially liked the walking route: vitsa dilofo Kipi Koukouli vitsa. Very diverse and just super relaxing. |- The family. Good people = Nice time. |- The mattress.||Negative:|- none for us. We loved it! |- if you like to watch tv, it’s a bit small and far away from the bed. But who watches tv in such a beautiful place anyways.||Photo = us...
Beautiful hotel, right at the crossroads of some of the best treks around Vokos gorge. Nice little cosy rooms. Simple, and friendly. Gorgeous views from all the windows. Magnificent court for breakfasts when the weather permits. There is a humongous , ancient plane tree there on the balcony. Amazing! Simple but tasty breakfasts are served .The only thing we didn't like was the bath water, which was not hot enough sometimes, and took forever to heat. The staff was kind and friendly. Only one cup of coffee was served free at the breakfast - additional cups of coffee were served upon request and you have to pay. This is a bit funny. Anyway, no big deal, as one can use a kettle for boling...
