My wife and I stayed at the hotel in the middle of a 2-week vacation. When we arrived, my wife was sick (we think from food poisoning, but not from the hotel). The front desk was very helpful in getting her something to comfort her. When we entered our room, our first impression was that it was very nice. But we soon found out that the toilet did not work, not good when someone is sick. There was also no running water in the sink, and no cold water in the shower. The room had a whirlpool tub, which did have hot and cold running water. We were told that the whirlpool tub was on a separate water line, and that most likely all rooms on the same wing were facing the same problem with water to the bathrooms. We were also told there were no other rooms available, and that they would contact someone to take a look. After a couple of correspondences with hotel staff, we were told that someone would be there around 11:00 pm. In the meantime, my sick wife had to use the hotel basement restroom. Later in the evening we seen that the whirlpool tub had a spray bar, so we thought we could take showers in the tub. Needless to say, the knob to turn on the spray bar was broken so we couldn't use it. We ended up filling the tub with water to wash but noticed that a LARGE amount of chunky debris was coming out of the faucet. Not really sanitary in my opinion. It appears that there are serious issues with the plumbing at the hotel. Needless to say, the water problem and toilet were never fixed, so we asked the hotel for buckets. We filled them with water from the tub and poured them in the toilet to flush it.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that things happen, and we were on the unfortunate end of a bad situation. This is understandable. During check-out, we suggested that there should be some discount to the room given that we could use the bathroom. The person at the desk didn't know anything about the situation and said that she would need to have management contact me. All of my contact information, including e-mail was given, but we never heard back. This is the part that disappoints me. The lack of management response to a customer request is a clear sign that the hotel only cares about taking in revenue, not about the basic comforts for their guests.
I will also note that as others reported, we noticed peeling wallpaper in the room, weeds growing between the decking of the boardwalk around the pool, and other areas that lack maintenance.
As for the staff, everyone we encountered was very friendly and accommodating, especially the front desk and breakfast staff.
In summary, on the surface, this appears to be a really nice hotel, but in actuality it is in dire need of maintenance. If management wants the hotel to thrive, basic maintenance needs to begin and attention to guests needs to be made a priority. Even if the hotel didn't feel that a discount was warranted, management should have at least responded (out of respect for their guests), instead of simply...
Read moreHaving just checked out of our delux suite with private pool we feel sad to be leaving this beautiful hotel. From the warmest welcome and the biggest goodbye this hotel offers the escape to Greece you wish for when escaping from your day to day life. The food is beyond anywhere we have ever been and as keen travellers, one meat lover and one vegetarian, we were both incredibly well catered for. Each 5 course menu with a choice of 3 from each course and as many of them as you can squeeze into your holiday tummy was divine. Such pretty food and full of flavour. As keen travellers we will be revisiting this hotel. With Rebecca, Crysta, Stametis and all the amazing staff who greet you with lovely smiles, your name and drink you like to enjoy.
For the explorers- We rented a quad for beach visits from Road Escapes just near the entrance (down the dusty road- 6 minute walk) visit Banana beach for amazing people watching, sports, lunch. Cabana beds, water sports and all the fun things a stunning beach can offer. Also, rent a boat to go over to turtle island and the caves. It’s so worth it! Don’t do a tour, drive your own it’s not that scary after all. We seen the turtles, grab water and fruit from the shop and anchor up. They will come to see you. We also hired a Fiat 500 convertible to drive the scenic route to the shipwreck. This is outstanding. I’ve ever seen anything so beautiful. You can’t go down there anymore due to land slides, it’s better by land for sure! Hiring your own transport is not expensive. A quad for the 24hrs is 70€ which beats a cab or coach.
Couples- If you are wishing to romantically dine out over a sunset I can’t recommend Porto Del Mar Restaurant. Food, atmosphere and surroundings were breath taking. A little garden area and water features complement your Greek escape. A short taxi journey so you can try their wine.
Workers- With 5G on the entire island working can be done from the front of your boat.
All in all this is the perfect relaxing & adventurous location for your Zakinthos stay.
Thank you to all the staff who we have developed heaps of love for.

Most of the areas in the hotel needed refurbishment. The wallpaper, the flooring, the skirting all needed replacing.
