Sirocco Hotel — Hotel in Zakynthos Municipality

This was the second visit to this hotel, we’ve been to Kalamaki many times. The reason we chose this hotel above others was due to the pool and sunbathing area which is spacious and well maintained however I have to be honest and say we won’t visit again as other areas let the hotel down badly. |I wouldn’t describe the hotel as bland but more ordinary and lacking anything unique. The breakfast is very bland with the same dull items every day, there is absolutely no variation. Likewise the evening meals are very very dull and cater to the older person with lots of stews, meat dishes and dull steamed rice. You’ll be lucky to find any modern foods such as pizzas or burgers. |The front of house area is very clean and well maintained with the bar and seating areas very nice however the staff are mostly all young (teens) and they lack any sort of personal touch or friendliness towards the guests, they aren’t rude but they are robotic.|There is a wasp problem when eating outside so this does affect any attempt to eat and it’s frustrating that no deterrents are in place to work against this.|The rooms are very clean, towels and beds changed every three days and beds are made daily, the room itself appears to be freshly decorated and it has a safe and hairdryer. The tv only shows one English speaking channel and that’s BBC World which is very boring. |Now for the worst part of this hotel, the BATHROOM IS APPALLING. I can honestly say there is nothing good about the bathroom, the flush doesn’t work, the shower has a curtain around it and this always results in the floor getting flooded. There’s a drain in the floor to mop up the excess water but that’s at a higher level than the shower area so the water would need to run up hill to escape. There’s shower drain inside the tray is also blocked which results in a pool of water around your feet as you wash. There are broken tiles and filthy trunking on the walls and many areas have been patched up with grout. Basically it wasn’t fit for purpose. |There’s an option to upgrade to a room which has a modern bathroom but that’s comes at a hefty price which I think is fairly unacceptable. |On the whole the hotel is...

Die Lage des Sirocco ist sehr idyllisch. Es befindet sich vor einem grünen Bergpanorama, inmitten von Wiesen mit Tieren wie Ziegen, Pferden, Schafen, etc. im Urlaubsort Kalamaki. Die große, gut ausgebaute und für Touristen angelegte Flaniermeile mit Bars, Restaurants, Shops etc. befindet sich circa 10 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt vom Sirocco. Viel gemütlicher als jene total touristische Flaniermeile ist das zwischen Bergpanorama und Hotel Sirocco gelegene schmale Sträßchen mit griechischen Tavernen und kleinen Bars. Sie ist mit der breiten, längeren Flaniermeile über ein Kreisverkehr verbunden und führt zum Strand. Ansonsten gibt es auch ein paar gute, griechische Tavernen, günstige Bars sowie einen Bankautomat in unmittelbarer Nähe des Sirocco-Hotels.||Der Flughafen in der Nähe des Ortes Kalamaki stört nicht: Es kommt keineswegs zu einer Lärmbelästigung.|Das Erwachsenenhotel besteht aus Haupt- und Nebengebäude sowie Poolbar und kleinem Parkplatz. Die schöne, gepflegte, saubere Anlage hat viele Palmen und einen einladenden, großen Pool, der um zu schwimmen und Bahnen zu ziehen tief genug ist (bis zu ca. 220 cm). Ausreichend Poolliegen sind zu jeder Tageszeit ebenfalls vorhanden, Sonnenschirme und Bäume spenden Schatten. Es gibt zwei Duschen am Pool sowie eine sanitäre Anlage mit Toiletten außerhalb des Hotelkomplexes. Die Poolbar bietet eine gute Auswahl an Softdrinks und alkoholhaltigen Getränken sowie Speisen zu günstigen Preisen. ||Der gut besuchte aber nicht überlaufene Strand mit glasklarem Wasser befindet sich tatsächlich nur circa 150 Meter zu Fuß von der Hotelanlage entfernt und nicht wie es in vielen Hotelkritiken zu lesen ist in 500 Metern oder mehr, das sind falsche Angaben.|Wir buchten ein Best-Price-Zimmer/Sparzimmer welches sich im Hauptgebäude oberhalb der 24-Stunden-Rezeption befindet. Das Zimmer ist entsprechend seiner Hotelklassifizierung einfach und zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Für Gäste die im Urlaub nicht auf das Fernsehschauen verzichten können, sind sogar 3 deutsche Sender (ZDF, PRO7, Sat1) eingespeichert, was nicht selbstverständlich in Griechenland ist. Grund: Viele Urlaubsgäste dieses Hotels kommen aus dem deutsprachigen Raum. Der Balkon verfügt neben zwei Sitzgelegenheiten und kleinem Beistelltisch auch über Wäscheleine und Beleuchtung. Das Badezimmer mit Dusche genügt einfachen Ansprüchen. Es ist wie üblich für griechische Verhältnisse klein gehalten und verfügt dafür aber über eine Steckdose für Rasierapparate. Die Zimmerreinigung ist im Allgemeinen in Ordnung allerdings wurde vergessen das Telefon zu "entstauben". |Der Morgen begann mit einem sehr guten kontinentalen Frühstücksbuffet und für ein 3-Sterne-Hotel bietet es eine sehr gute Auswahl an kalten und warmen Speisen und Getränken. Der Orangensaft ist allerdings nicht wirklich schmackhaft und hatte mit Saft nicht viel zu tun, aber das ist in vielen vergleichbaren Hotels in Griechenland genauso.||Das Hotelpersonal ist im Großen und Ganzen freundlich und spricht teilweise sogar deutsch. ||Da wir bei der Buchung unserer Urlaubsreise lediglich Übernachtung mit Frühstück gebucht hatten, konnten wir anhand der ausliegenden Speisekarte jeden Morgen sehen, was es für griechische Leckereien zum Abendessen gab. Somit konnten wir flexibel entscheiden ob wir an jenem Abend im Hotel essen oder lieber eine der vielen nahegelegenen Tavernen in Kalamaki testeten. Das Buffetabendessen kostete 12 € zuzüglich Getränken. Man konnte für diesen Preis, so wie üblich für ein Buffet, soviel essen wie man wollte.||Auch flexibel entscheiden konnte man vor Ort ob man die Klimaanlage, den Safe oder den Kühlschrank nutzt. Der Kühlschrank kostete zum ersten Mal in einem unserer Urlaube extra und das bei den hohen Temperaturen im Sommer. Pro Nacht werden 3 € in Rechnung gestellt, die man vor Ort bezahlt. |Für den Safe an der Rezeption zahlten wir 2 € und für die Klimaanlage 9 € pro Nacht, aber das kennen wir bereits von anderen Hotels. Es störte uns nicht.||Das Sirocco würden wir bei einem Urlaubsaufenthalt in Kalamaki wieder buchen und können es daher mit bestem Gewissen...

Our first time in Zakynthos and our first time at Sirocco but it most definitely won’t be our last. We have already enquired about booking for next year. We spent ten nights at this hotel and every day/night was perfect, from the welcoming and helpful staff to the cleanliness of the rooms it was all spot on 👌 the pool and pool area is lovely and a nice sun trap then of an evening you can sit at the bar area and watch the sun set. Perfect for me because there are NO KIDS. Food was delicious, drinks were reasonably priced. Perfect location as you’re only a few minutes away from the Kalamaki strip and a few minutes away from The Beach. There is also a lovely little shop just a couple of minutes away and our favourite bar ‘Iguana’ which will provide all your late night entertainment. Demetri, Markello and the young lady on the bar at the hotel were an absolute asset to the business providing top notch service and were incredibly welcoming. If you are looking for an adults only hotel in Zakynthos then look no further! I will definitely be returning next year.
