First, I was given a room where the WiFi didn't reach but did have a work table. WiFi is an absolute must for me. They changed me to a room that did have WiFi and they scraped up a n extension cord with enough sockets to work but I had to put the laptop on a bed and lay out the clothes and stuff I was gong to use for the 4 night stay. I noticed during the room change that the pool was closed for renovation. In any case I called the travel agent who booked the hotel and reported the happenings. A short time later, I got word from the local rep that they were changing me to another, better located hotel, Hotel Camino Real Tikal for the 3rd and fourth nights. I have a review for that one too.||||This summer and the middle of an unusually rainy rainy season. Although the rooms are air conditioned, the restaurant is not, so dinner was hot and steamy though the overhead fans helped some, The food was surprisingly good for a small hotel. The first morning was also fairly steamy at breakfast which was a typical ham and eggs American breakfast though with juice and fresh fruit and toast. decent enough. The second morning, they made me a nice omelet with ham, bacon, onions and cheese along with the fruit, juice, toast and coffee. A nice way to get the day started. The staff really went out of their way to try to make up for the deficiencies and I expect they'll be more in tune with customer needs before he arrives. I have to say everywhere I have been in Guatemala, service has been...
Read moreMany, if not most hotel stays fall to the back of your memory and and blend together and you can't really distinguish one from the other. The hotel restaurant is an open air setting that is on one end of the court yard. It is good and has prices that are reasonable. ||The staff is exceptionally helpful. Read morePros: Great location, less than 5mins from the airport and a 4min walk to the start of the bridge leading to Flores island Quiet environment, very peaceful at night Nice courtyard area to unwind, along with a pool, verandah area and restaurant Air conditioning for the humid, still nights Hair dryer available on request at the reception, as was the ability to store drinks in the fridge (none in the room) along with our small luggage.
Cons: Some wear and tear in the hotel room, but nothing unserviceable Air conditioning was leaking slightly, dripping water onto the very side of my bed No body soap provided apart from a skinny bar sealed bar soap that seemed more for hand washing Towels also show some signs of age, though still smelled fresh and clean Curtains for our room couldn't be opened without the next door hallway looking into the room (lack of privacy)
All in, this is a nice quaint and quiet hotel that's pretty...
