My experience at Quinta Real was absolutely awful. I stayed there two nights while on a business trip. The hotel is dated and in serious need of repairs. Many members of our delegation had issues with their rooms such as broken TV sets, no warm water, or dirty brown water in the shower. Their wifi connection would drop constantly and the signal would not reach the rooms, so forget working in your room. Moreover, the bar at the pool played loud Latin music during the entire day and every evening until very late, also making work, let alone rest, impossible. The straw that broke the camel's back was the hotel's management of my belongings. I gave a load of laundry to the hotel's cleaning service, since I needed fresh clothes during my business trip. They returned the clothing in a sealed bag, and I assumed everything was there. This was a mistake. A few days later, in Tegucigalpa, I realized my clothes were missing. I called the hotel and they informed me that they found my clothes as soon as I checked out but neglected to alert me or return them. They had my full contact information, as well as contact information for our delegation and government escorts, but they simply did nothing. Upon finding out, I asked them to send me my clothes and they informed me that they could only be sent through a courier service that I had to pay for. Despite their negligence, the hotel offered no compensation or apology. I ended up paying a private courier to have my clothing returned to me, and had to wear dirty clothes to my other meetings in the country. Avoid this hotel like the plague if you want to have anything close to a comfortable and...
Read moreFirst-staff is very pleasant and professional; food quite good, rooms comfy and clean. We’ve been to this hotel 3x. In Honduras, where we are residents, it is a law that senior citizens get a discount. This trip, we were denied the “tercera edad discuenta” and told we had to be residents for 10 years or more to qualify. This hotel gave us the discount before. I’m 65 and my husband is 70. Two of our friends are Honduran attorneys and they both said that there is no rule about how long you are a resident. We showed our residency cards, but the front desk refused. The sad thing is.....we usually took most of our Senior discount and added more money to our tips (propinas) to the staff because we know how much tourism has fallen off during the Covid crisis. We’ve recommended this place to 3 couples who have stayed here as a result....the denial of the discount will be mentioned to our friends so they know, too. Everyone we called today to ask about the tercera edad discount said “they are not telling you the truth”....which we knew, of course, but wanted to be sure. We may or may not return....and aren’t going to tell others to stay away, but this was not a wise move on the part of management or the...
Read moreWe tried to book 2 room directly with the hotel. After numerous emails and 4 days later not confirming we booked through a third party app. At check in we were given to 2 worst rooms in the hotel. Rooms 106 and 108 are unrenovated, smell like mold, bathroom moldy with holes in the walls, behind the pool waterfall (noisy) and with a view of the pool mechanicals. Bathroom mirror was so goofed up you couldn’t see. We were told the hotel was full and they couldn’t change our rooms our interpreter spoke to the desk staff and explained what organization we are with (we book a lot of rooms at this hotel) and suddenly they had 2 rooms that were remodeled (poorly) on the second floor. This is known as the best hotel in La Ceiba and it’s not saying much. The pool was green with algae slime on the bottom. Garbage is on the beach with unburied chain link fencing to help prevent shore erosion. I cut my leg on a piece of the exposed fencing. As I was checking out they were changing the air filters in the room. I included a picture. Disgusting that is what we were breathing. This hotel could be nice if the staff actually...
