Be aware this is a hotel only on the first floor and a hostel on the rest of the floors so do not leave valuables in your room including your passport and tickets. Breakfast is unbranded and often stale cereal with reconstituted milk (?) scrambled eggs that are often dried out, unknown meat sausages and bread with some kind of jam substitute. Coffee by name only, I am not sure what it is actually made from. Bar has cappuccinos so order one of them since they are cheap and acceptable. Better to go out for breakfast as it is not worth adding breakfasts to your room cost.|Wifi works but can be slow and intermittent.|Rooms are large but tired with walls that have not been painted in years, water and heating piping crossing between walls for no obvious reason other than initial bad planning, furniture that could be thought of as almost chic in it's 60's retro look and carpets that were probably bought second hand from Noah! Beds are okay for a few nights but not very comfortable (what is it with sheets that are 75% of the size that are needed to cover the bed)? Typical for ex-Eastern bloc there are lots of staff who are generally very pleasant but don't seem to produce much more than whatever they have to do. |Give every staff member a paintbrush for two days, lay down some new carpet, spend a few more Forints a day on a decent breakfast, lose the Austin Powers designed reception (see picture) and you are on your way to a real 3 star hotel.|There are often coach loads of teenagers or Japanese tourists who come to this hotel for one or two nights on tourism and it can get very noisy with all the uncarpeted corridors.|I am content staying here knowing what I am getting into but would not recommend this for any Western tourist who expects a standard hotel experience. Think bottom end hostel experience and definitely not 3 star hotel as their website and entrance...
Read moreThis hotel is about 20 minutes by tram from the city-centre of Budapest. What I like about this hotel is the staff at the hotel are helpful. Even though I did not speak Hungarian, the staff who attended to me during the check-in attended to me with patience to ensure that my requests in English were understood. ||||What I also like about the hotel is the provision of Free WiFi! And the wifi works generally consistently well in the room too. I could also have access to free wifi at the reception areas and seminar rooms of the hotel.||||The room rates were affordable. The room was spacious for the price that I had paid. Each room has an ensuite bathroom-and-toilet. The hotel does not provide toiletries. It helps to bring one's own or purchase toiletries from the nearby supermarket. ||||I stayed on the first level, one level above the ground floor. Guests on that level will have to be prepared to hear sounds of other guests singing or speaking at the nearby public spaces at night. For me, it was easy to tune out.||||There is a gym within the hotel's premises. While I did not use it, I felt this hotel has services that will earn the liking of a fitness enthusiast. ||||Within the hotel, there is a bar that serves espresso drinks, alcoholic drinks and other drinks. Good service.||||I quite like the neighbourhood that the hotel was based in. Generally, I felt safe in the neighbourhood. There are a few eating places nearby the hotel. ||||I will be willing to stay at Hotel Ventura should I visit Budapest...
