The food is alright. The atmosphere is well-designed with all the decorations (especially the chess board on the wall), but the service is not. The waiter simply misheard my orders without confirming with me again and gave me something that I didn’t order. When I tried to enquire it, he just blamed the issue on me. I ordered a beef dish as my main course but he gave me a vegetarian dish. When I tried to bring this issue to him, he just replied me ‘You should not point the picture when ordering, you should tell me in words’, saying that with an annoyed face. I was confused but thought that I could accept it as long as he gave me the right meal eventually. He said I would have to wait for seven minutes more. But just after 10 seconds, he brought me the right dish. It was obvious that he just mistakenly mixed it up but he didn’t say any words or apology afterwards. They also gave me another drink that was different to what I ordered and was more expensive. I would not say this is a bad experience but I...

I'm a big fan of the sibling restaurant, VígVarjú so it just made sense in my head to try out VakVarjú as well. The interior gives off a cozy, small Hungarian restaurant vibe. There's an old gentleman playing live piano which set the mood for sure. The menu is quite short and there are not a lof of dairy free options so I ended up choosing something I didn't really like. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't awful, I'm just not a big fan of meat that has a lot of fat on it. Surprisingly it was really soft and it was perfectly seasoned though; I wish I could say the same about the noodles. The cabbage wasn't bad nor good, just plain and a bit boring. My cousin had salmon and sweet potato purée and I have to say those were absolutely delicious! If you're craving Hungarian food with a twist on it I recommend VígVarjú instead of VakVarjú - the interior is stunning, the food tastes better and the prices...

A rendelt előétel sajnos lemaradt, ezért a főétellel kezdtük. Libamájat és libamellet rendeltünk. Sajnos mindkettőt langyosan sikerült a pincérnek kihozni.

A hely hangulata egyébként jó, kellemes csalódás a jó bor választék is, melyek ára is teljesen elfogadható.

Great place for a hearty, Hungarian meal. We went for dinner, without a reservation, but luckily there was a table for the two of us. There was even live music which is nice. The service is kind and very professional. The food was delicious. We ate two courses, a soup and a main. The garlic soup was very nice, and the bean soup was like a homemade soup, it had everything you need. The chicken breast was super juicy, and the sides were very nice too. The pork could have been a bit juicier, but the brown sauce and the cabbage made up for it. We got huge portions. I had the last bit to go, because the bean soup and the pork was way too much food, but that's a good problem to have. It is quite expensive but very good quality.

Well, well, well!!! Another very interesting place in Budapest! Location is very strange. Between the two blocks into an old communists neighbourhood. But the place worth not 100 but 1000%!!! I’ve tried veal steak and I was blown away! Never thought that will find so fresh and delicious steak in such a place! There is one interesting soup - cold one with cucumber and yogurt and also with garlic and herbs. Very specific, in Bulgaria we have pretty the same called - “tarator”. We’ve tried also local type of pizza, not bad at all. And at the first end perfect local craft! Pale ale, not so flavoured and bitter, just as I like it! I’ll definitely come back here! Totally recommend, reserve your table if you are around!
