The location is really great for this hotel, but generally I was not satisfied with my stay here. First of all, consider that there is no wi-fi at all (even though it indicates that there is). Most of the time it was not working at all. We asked the staff to restart the router several times, but it did not work and so we just gave up. Secondly, the room we had had a terrace shared with another room. The people from the other room smoked and that made it impossible to open a window in 33 degrees weather... TV has only Hungarian channels that does not have option to change language to English. Ok, there was one channel - CNN, but surely you don't want to watch news on your vacation all the time. Rooms are not sound-proof, as we had to hear people yelling, making love, etc. On the last nigh there was a bunch of people in the lobby drinking beer and being very loud - the staff did nothing so I had to wake up in the middle of the night, go there and beg them to be quiet so that people can actually sleep. The last thing but probably the most important one - the bed. Even though we had specified that a room with one double bed is needed, there were two single beds pushed together. There was a big, hard wood gap between the mattresses that made it impossible to sleep and cuddle up together. There is just one great thing about this place - the restaurant. I cannot say one single bad thing about it, in fact, it was just splendid! The prices were low and...
Read moreWe have stayed one night in the triple room - there was one bed against the wall and two other pushed together pretending to be one double. The room was simple, clean, with color coordinated theme. ||We have arrived from nearby Heviz around 11.30, got obnoxious welcome and we would not be be admitted until official check in at 2 pm but we were allowed to leave our luggage in open - they do not even offer a luggage room.||The town itself is nothing special and the lake has a muddy water, it was not nice to swim in it. The city beach is grassy and busy with outdated facilities. We were glad we have spent most of the time in Heviz and only one day in Keszthely. The only sight worth coming for was the grand palace with beautiful gardens. If this is the most elegant Balaton town, I do not want to see the rest...||The balcony was a big plus and it was lovely to enjoy a drink there in the evening.|However sliding doors were all it was and we did not feel comfortable leaving them open due to security and bags but aircon was not efficient. In result we had an awful sleep.||On positive side: breakfast was quite good, with hot and cold options and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetable.||Their famous restaurant is currently shut for dinner - we understood this is not temporary. It was dissapointing as we were looking forward to our wine experience.||Overall we do not plan to return to Keszthely other than in...
Read moreThis hotel is well situated in Keszthely and although it is close to the main square the road itself is quiet. The hotel is clean but quite stark, particularly the reception area, and the breakfast area has dark heavy wooden furniture from a bygone era. The breakfast itself was good with a variety of items available from fresh fruit to cooked breakfast. Although the bedroom was quite big the shower room was very small in comparision and the towels provided were very thin and not really adequate to dry oneself after a shower. There is no parking available at the hotel but they provide tokens to park in an underground park about a mile from the hotel. Also the website stated that there was a restaurant open for dinner but when we arrived and requested a table we were told that it had shut 2...
