Perfectly lovely stay. Probably not as upmarket as the website makes out - a lot of the facilities feel like they haven’t been updated in 20 years or so. But all perfectly usable and clean, and staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful (and almost all spoke perfect English, and which was a pleasant surprise). |Food options were good, with standard basics each evening but also more local specialties. Lots of variety of meals. |Location was strong, with a lovely view of the lake and dock. About a 15 minute walk along to the seafront, though there were lots of hireable scooters outside which made it much faster. |Hotel itself was very quiet during our mid-June visit, which was nice. Dining space was almost totally empty so we never had to wait. |The “spa” is really just a medium pool with adjoining kids’ pool and hot tub. Perfectly pleasant but probably closer to a leisure centre experience than a luxury one. Don’t think there were ever more than six people in the pool at a time, including the two of us. However the steam rooms and sauna are only used a few days a week, so weren’t on for the duration of our stay, which was a bit disappointing. |Bedrooms were basic but absolutely fine. A kettle might have been nice but maybe that’s just my British showing! Air con in the room was much appreciated; we had it on around the clock. |I would definitely recommend the hotel, but would advise not to focus too much on the “four star” part of the name, and instead expect a more standard holiday package hotel experience. |My only other note is that we were plagued with flies while out on the balcony in the evening. Not the end of the world and certainly not within the hotel’s control, but it was mentioned in passing during checkout that we could have asked for bug spray at reception - keep in mind if you have a...
Read morei just want to start off by saying that this is the first bad review that i've even written, but i really feel the need to do this.
first of all, the staff did not speak english and was not very friendly or welcoming. when we got there, we had lunch at their restaurant, and we were the only ones there. there were pictures all over the hotel of salmon at the restaurant, but the only fish they had on the menu was fish and chips. i have allergies, so i didn't get anything (because there was nothing that i could eat on the menu), but my dad and brothers got the fish and chips and it was tiny pieces of gross fish with the skin on it, and it took and hour for it to come, even though we were the only people there, and it was frozen and all they had to do we reheat it.
then, our room was so hot it felt like a sauna. we turned the thermostat as cold as it was able to go, but i still barely slept because it was so hot. i was sleeping on the futon which was 6 inches off the ground, and was as hard as a doctors table.
the room did not come with any shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles, it came with a 2 in 1 shampoo/body wash gel that squirted out of a soap dispenser, and was so liquidy that it didn't wash anything. they did not have any conditioner, and the chlorine smell would not wash off of me, no matter how many times i washed myself. the shower was very small, and it leaked all over the bathroom even though the door was closed very tight.
the hotel also claimed to have a private beach, but when we looked for it, all we found was rocks and the lake.
overall we did NOT have a good stay at this hotel, (even though we were only there for 1 night!!) and do not...
Read moreWe had a relaxing stay, the sauna and outside jacuzzi are really nice. Some hiccups in the service. Mostly no soap when we first arrived in the room (was refilled as soon as we asked the reception but it should have been filled prior to our arrival) The dinner had no drink included and when asking for tap water, we at first got the answer "no, you have to get a paid drink" which are very expensive (1500ft for a 30cl bottle of water) so this was a bit shocking, after a sauna I was super thirsty, so I argued and got my tap water.
The personnel did not speak very good English, except for 2 or 3 of them which were always on the same shift, so half of the time it was quite difficult to communicate
They had an event for easter and where completely out of towels at the welness area, which was not very well though out on their part (anyways the towels are more like a dirty rag, some had blood on them)
The breakfast is good and the food is fresh, the dinner is also good but not as fresh, you also better be early for both as there is not a lot of refill so the best dishes are gone 1h before the end
The area around is very relaxing, I highly recommend a walk on the pier at sunset time
Overall, I would not say this is a 4 star hotel, a 3 star at best especially given the way the rooms are furnished (no master switch, old carpet etc) but it was...
