The Matroz Etterem is a great restaurant, right next to the Lake Balaton. From here you can see onto the huge lake, as this place is not far from the shore. Actually the Matroz is the closest to the shore in a row of restaurants in this promenade towards the lake. Here you sit in the large patio, which is sunny and ideal for big groups. The staff is friendly and willing to help and the atmosphere as well as the facade reminds of a big ship. The food they serve here ranges from traditional Hungarian dishes to pizza and pasta.
We had a pizza with mushrooms, ham and olives, as well as Spaghetti Bolognese. In addition we had chicken soup with vegetables and a cucumber salad with sour cream. All dishes we enjoyed here sitting in the patio. The pancake (palacsinta) with apricot marmalade is also very delicious and so is the Dreher beer, a local dark bock beer, and as Radler, a Shandy, half lemonade, half beer (Dreher).

So unfortunately I would have to rate this so low, and I would not recommend if you're hoping for a good service. The experience was so bad that we couldn't properly...
Read moreWe were looking for a place to have dinner and decided to have cocktails first. This place looked nice. All went well until we asked for the bill. The waiter said only cash payment, no cards. We only had euros. They had a ridiculously high exchange rate. We paid with a big note. And then they pretended to forget to give us our change. Our waiter actually disappeared in the back somewhere. After a while, we went to the bar counter and enquired about our change. The waiter then reluctantly came out from the back somewhere and gave us the change. Needless to say we decided to have our dinner at...
