Guesthouse Mikael — Hotel in Iceland

If you're looking for a nice, inviting, clean guesthouse, in a central place, with plenty of (free) parking, and a welcoming atmosphere, then Guesthouse Mikael is definitely the place for you!|We stayed in a few guesthouses in Iceland, and this one is by far better.|Nice and clean full kitchen, nice and clean dining room, relatively large rooms, with your own great shower and toilet (not obvious in guesthouse).|For fairness, I must mention that the stairs to the upper floor are very narrow, which makes it hard to carry a suitcase up and down (it was mentioned in the place description).|Oh... and all this at a very decent price!|Just by a chance, we met with the owner (and her sister), and had a nice chat. Easy to find and just what we needed for a quick stay. Fantastic communication -- they messaged us via Expedia for after hours check in and made it very easy for us with clear instructions. If arriving late you can arrange with them to get in after hours via keybox. Small room but clean and quiet and had everything we needed including hot water kettle for coffee etc. Lots of hot water in shower, comfy bed. Friendly staff. Checkout at noon. TV in room. Window in room opens. Convenient place to stay for Jokulsarlon activities, a little more than an hour away. There was plenty of parking (gravel lot) on site. Cute breakfast area but we had an early activity so did not eat there in the morning. Walking distance to restaurants etc. Birki restaurant right next door...

We were in room 8 on the ground floor and were very pleased with the room and it’s facilities for our one night stay. Parking is plentiful and near the front door. You need a code to get in to the front door and then into your room. The hotel is well situated with at least 5 restaurants within 100m.|We had a quiet comfortable nights sleep and were very pleased with the continental breakfast with a wide range of items. |We only saw any staff in the morning when breakfast was available but he was very friendly and helpful.|The hotel may not look much from outside and the view from our bedroom was just of the local sports centre but we would have no hesitation in staying there again and...
