We were going to make a grocery store night of it, but it closed a few minutes before we arrived and are we glad it did. The meal we had here was one of the best I’ve had in a long time.
The lobster soup is as divine as others report—created with a deft and subtle hand. The surprise was the smoked cod with pickled mustard seed and root veggies. Caught and smoked by the owners neighbor, the smoke was subtle and beguiling and the fish moist and fresh in texture and flavor. The pickled mustard seed provided a perfect balance of sweet and piquant. The root vegetables were perfect—I didn’t know turnips could be that good—and a great complement to the fish.

The homemade bread and salt start the dinner on the right foot. We had the lobster soup, extremely flavorful, we were in doubt at the beginning but followed the waitress recommendation and did not regret it.
We also had the mussels, its a plate of 3-4 mussels, not the usual French bucket. I really enjoyed the way it was prepared.
The Arctic char was fresh and well cooked with tasty vegetables such as fennel and crunchy potatoes (looked like they were cooked two ways)
We finished with the apple crumble also well executed. My friend had an espresso martini which was delish.

The langoustine soup was a standout, easily one of the best dishes of our trip. However, the true star was the homemade sourdough bread with whipped butter—so phenomenal that I could have happily made a meal of it alone. For dessert, we chose the blueberry tart, and as someone who's had plenty of blueberry treats, I was blown away by how exceptional this one was. We contemplated ordering a second, despite being completely full. Their desserts are seasonal, and I’ve heard their cinnamon rolls are the best around, so definitely keep an eye out for those. Though they don't take reservations, this gem is absolutely worth the wait....
