A hurried business trip to Guwahati landed me at the crowded Paltan Bazar area right at the peak hour traffic rush in the evening. Dead tired and being alone with moderately heavy luggage, I looked for a decent looking hotel. Amongst the rickety and sinister looking lodges and so called hotels, the mighty Gitanjali takes up a lot of prime space in that commercial area. The location and the appearance of this hotel does all the marketing for it.||Once I reached the hotel; to my surprise, I could not locate the entrance even though I was standing right beneath the sign board. On asking fellow shopkeepers, I was directed towards a dingy corridor with garments and underwear shops on both sides. At the end of the corridor; bang opposite to a liquor store was the reception. Go figure !!||Not wanting to spend much on room rent while on a short business trip, I decided to give it a go. I asked for a single room at the most economical rate. The biggest mistake committed. What I was shown in the name of a single room will 'single-highhandedly' haunt me or the rest o my life. The pun is very much intended. ||Imagine voluntarily paying for a 4 feet by 6 feet pigeon box along with an attached bath in it to spend the night. Claustrophobia kicked in immediately. I couldn't breathe.||To make the matter worse, the entire building has sewage and septic pipes running through the rooms and corridors. Those red pipes made literally made me feel like I was trapped in a capsized submarine. The stench of sewage and jumbo cockroaches will make you believe you are in hell.||Despite everything, I braved to spend the night. I couldn't be sure whether I would get better accommodation in similar hotels nearby. Too tired to haul my luggage through the crowded streets, I gave in and embraced darkness.||||By the way, DO NOT go by the pictures posted in their website. Things are really not...
Read moreThe rooms are very disgusting and even the Deluxe Room are very bad and a habitation for mosquitos , the rooms are very dirty and the beds even , the bedsheets seems to have no contact with water from years. I had to change my room 3 times. In one of the three rooms, the toilet flush was not working and the previous guest's waste was floating with intense smell spread across the whole room. When I reported this to the hotel they said me they are sending someone to fix the problem but even after waiting for hours no one came . So I climbed down to the reception and gave a long lecture and after that they changed my room again though the new room was also disgusting and dirty. The hotel is NOT EVEN a 1 star hotel and the food price was of 5 star. "Bread and Jam" for breakfast costs Rs.70 . The hotel also has a Bar where if you go and sit, prostitute will approach you and will sit with you(even if you don't want to sit with them) and seduce you and will order drinks and food for which you have to pay and if disagreed to pay, the bar staff will argue and can even assault you (if you continue to argue) and if you say them you don't have money than they will ask you to submit your Phone and collect the phone when you give them the money. The hotel has only one lift and hence you have to wait for long for the lift to arrive for your service.Overall I won't suggest this hotel to anyone , The only advantage of this hotel is it's city center Location, though Parking Facility is not available here. But their are many good hotels in the same...
Read moreAbsolutely Horrible – Worst Hotel Experience Ever
This hotel is a complete disaster. I’ve never experienced such a pathetic level of service anywhere.
Reception: The people at the front desk were rude, clueless, and totally unhelpful. It felt like they didn’t even want guests there. No proper welcome, no information, just blank stares and bad attitude.
Management: The management is a joke. Complaints go nowhere. It’s like no one is in charge and no one cares.
Room Service: Non-existent. You can call ten times and still get nothing. When something finally arrives (if it does), it's either wrong or disgusting.
No Guidelines: There’s zero communication. No clear info about anything – not check-in/check-out, not food, not facilities – absolutely nothing. You’re left guessing.
No Hygiene: The room was filthy. Dirty floors, smelly bathroom, stained sheets. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. Totally unhygienic and unacceptable.
Overall Service: Terrible across the board. The staff is untrained, unbothered, and incompetent. It felt like staying in a neglected dump, not a hotel.
Do yourself a favor and never book this place. It was a total waste of money and a nightmare from start to finish. Stay...
