Review for Moustache Delhi - Extremely Disappointed We had a very disappointing experience at Moustache Delhi. We pre-ordered our food between 10:15–10:30 PM, after confirming with the kitchen staff about the availability. They approved it, and we submitted our KOT (kitchen order ticket) to the manager on duty. When we came back downstairs at 11:45 PM, the kitchen was closed and our food was not prepared. We raised the issue with the night manager Mr. Raj, whose unprofessional behavior and complete lack of hospitality made the situation even worse: He claimed he had no idea about our KOT, even though it was posted in the managers' group at around 10:30 PM. Instead of taking any responsibility, he argued with us saying, "It’s not my problem. I'll see tomorrow." He provided half the food, which was stale, and the rice was missing. He misled us by saying the rice was being cooked, but then disappeared for over half an hour without informing us of anything. When he returned, he said the only solution was to order from Zomato — and we would have to pay for it ourselves. We waited for over 4 hours — first waiting for food, then being served stale food, then waiting again for rice that never arrived. At 3 AM, we still hadn't eaten properly. Management kept blaming each other instead of solving the issue. Additionally, we have been staying here for almost 10 days, paying full rent and food charges. Just because we are long-staying guests does not mean management can take us for granted or provide such careless and disrespectful service. Because of this mismanagement, I couldn't even take my medicines on time because I hadn’t eaten for 5 hours. This is not just poor service — it’s absolute negligence and shows a complete lack of hospitality. I would strongly advise against staying at Moustache Delhi if you expect basic service, responsible management, and even minimum courtesy. Thankfully, shift managers Sumit and Jagdish later intervened. They listened to us patiently, acknowledged the mistake, and offered a clear solution to resolve the issue. Their professionalism and willingness to help, even at a difficult hour, restored a bit of our trust in the staff — and we truly appreciate their efforts.

Moustache Hostel They were one of the first backpacker hostel in Delhi when they launched, and then they had to shut down until September 2018 when they re-launched in Delhi at this new location. It is very close to Sukhdev Vihar Metro station on the Magenta line, which means great connectivity to the airport. Once you reach the hostel look for a white bungalow that says D-920, the hostel is yet to get a symbolic ‘moustache’, that makes it easy to identify. I luckily came across a lady at the gate who I could ask and confirm that it was the hostel I was looking for. Moustache Delhi is located near Okhla phase-III in New Friends Colony, which is a very green and quiet surrounding. When I happened to visit this property, it had just been 14 days since they had become operational. It was very new, and I was greeted by Siddharth, and he was kind enough to give me a tour of the hostel. They have 6-Bed,8-Bed and 16-Bed dorms; Female only dorm and Private rooms too. They have a beautiful terrace with turf flooring, multiple balconies for guests who smoke. And a wonderful front grass lawn with a swing. Proper shoeracks, a bigass LCD Tv in the common area next to the reception, a long table to dine and chill on, a laundry room. The common area has beautiful interiors and furniture, a small library, and a quirky low seating, and couches. The dorm beds seem pretty comfortable, and come with a reading light, universal plug points, a curtain with their symbolic moustache print, a soft pillow and a cushion, and a small wall fan for each bed. Some of their attached dorm bathrooms have a bath-tub too. The staircase have artistic glass bottle lamps on the wall which gave a soothing feel. Their community kitchen is one of the best I saw out of the three hostels I visited in Delhi. It was kept really well, and was very well-equipped. They have several utensils, dishes and cutlery for the guests to use, a 3-burner stove with a chimney. A refrigerator and a hand blender too. A night here could cost you anywhere between Rs.300-600 in a dorm bed, and Rs.2000-4000 in a private room.

This place will give you a proper hostel vibe. Do not expect a 5 star stay; you will get what you have paid for. Good thing about this place: 1. The location - it is very well connected; malls, movie theatres, tourist places all are nearby. 2. Safety - This place is located inside a gated society with guards at the gate and even the approach road is taken care by the local police at night. 3. Cost - It's damn affordable, to get a place with all the facilities in south Delhi is unthinkable at this price. 4. The host - The people who are running this place are super friendly and helpful. They are keeping the place alive. 5. Food - Outside food is allowed and you are allowed to cook in the community kitchen as well. They also provide food for a very reasonable price and cold water and soft drinks are always available. Now for some not so good things about the place: 1. Rooms - All Doms are crowded, at least 6 people share a 10x12 ft room. They even have 8 bed Doms. Rooms feel a bit claustrophobic and cramped. 2. A/C - They have a very odd rule of not allowing AC to run in Doms during the day, so when it is actually hot you cannot chill in your bed and have to be in the common area. 3. Stairs - Yes, there is no lift and stairs are the only option. But the property just has 2 stories ground and 1st floor, 2nd floor is essentially a terrace. 4. Address - They do not have Moustache written anywhere outside or even put up a logo anywhere. This one is a minor issue but can be really annoying. 5. Washrooms: This one is a major turn off. The washrooms are shared and at full capacity the common one is used by more than 20 people. The regular cleaning is not enough for the washroom and needs renovation. The shower heads are outright dirty.

Stayed here for 2 nights. In one of the six bed dorms.||The hostel is a converted house arranged over 3 floors. My room was located on the 2nd floor, where there's also a rooftop area to hang out. The bunk had a sturdy frame and offered some protection against sleepless bunkmates. Each bed is also allocated a locker, large enough to hold my 50L backpack and more. The locker can be secured with a padlock. The bunk came with a private light, an electrical socket, a fan and privacy curtains. The duvet cover was a disgrace, with holes and tears. The door handle of the dorm had broken off its hinge when I arrived and by the time I returned at night, it had completely fallen off,||The ground floor has a dining and seated common area with lots of cushions, which was a great place to hang out. Parts of the building are in a poor state, the paint and plaster in dire need of replacement, especially in the bathroom. People are allowed to walk with shoes on. The floors aren't being cleaned often enough and consequently the floors become dirty.||The shared bathroom left a lot to be desired. As far as I could tell, there were two showers and two toilets, shared by the whole hostel. The floors were so dirty from people wearing shoes, I was afraid to step on the floor any time I entered. The toilets and sink were in a poor, albeit working state. The showers are also basic, functional and working, but in need of maintenance. One positive is no problem getting hot water, day or night.||The hostel had a kitchen which guests could use for cooking. Alternatively, the staff can cook something. The paneer paratha is excellent.||Location wise, the hostel is located in New Friends Colony which is a mid to upmarket part of Delhi. The nearby NFC Market is quite trendy with plenty of food or shopping options. The nearest metro station is about 15 minutes walk away and quite a distance from the touristy areas of Delhi. Be prepared to use a lot of taxis or face 45 minute metro rides.||I imagine this place was fantastic when it first opened, but poor maintenance has led to failing paint, plaster falling and poor bathrooms. The staff are awesome and the place has a great hostel vibe and that's the only reason I'm not giving this...

Review for Moustache Delhi - Extremely Disappointed

We had a very disappointing experience at Moustache Delhi.

Raj, whose unprofessional behavior and complete lack of hospitality made the situation even worse:

He claimed he had no idea about our KOT, even though it was posted in the managers' group at around 10:30 PM.

Instead of taking any responsibility, he argued with us saying, "It’s not my problem. I'll see tomorrow."

He provided half the food, which was stale, and the rice was missing.
