My family and I recently stayed at Gurukrupa Bungalow on our visit to Dwarkadhish temple, and it was one of the most sublime experiences we had. Before the stay, I informed Harshkantji, the property owner, that I would travel with three senior citizens. His reply had an innate sense of reassurance, and I knew I didn’t have to look further. We arrived at the property, and it was like a Matisse painting of a quaint two-storied cottage that opens into a lovely garden with a solid wooden jhoola waiting to embrace its guests. It’s the kind of house you expect to find in a temple town, with simple décor and old-world charm. There are two rooms on the ground floor connected to the kitchen. The room on the top overlooks a quiet and warm neighborhood and a pretty chikoo tree. The amenities are simple, yet they cover all necessities to feel at home. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious, and the bathrooms were clean. It’s ideal for families on a pilgrimage, ordinary people with modest tastes or eternal seekers, or what the Japanese call satori – the ones who yearn for the experience rather than the comfort. We also enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner in the courtyard, soaking in the peace and quiet. The location was perfect. It’s just an eight-minute walk from Dwarkadhish temple and an eleven-minute walk from the breathtaking Sunset point in the northwest or the splendid Gomti Ghat in the southeast. But the soul of the property is Shyam bhai or the Indian version of Reginald Jeeves, the gentleman’s gentleman, a walking encyclopedia of all things Dwarka. He could give any tourist guide a run for his money. He would tell you of places in Dwarka you never thought existed. When one of my family members fell ill during the stay, he took good care as a brother would. He is the most genial man you would ever meet, a true ambassador of Gujarati hospitality. If you are not in the mood to cook, he could recommend food that even Sanjeev Kapoor would quip, “ey to adbuth chey.” The only drawback I found in Gurukrupa Bungalow was that the water in the bathrooms was salty, but Shyam bhai went out of his way to address the problem and make us feel comfortable. Overall, we had a delightful stay at the Gurukrupa bungalow. It was the perfect place to return to after the maha aarti of Lord...

Our stay at Gurukrupa Bungalows in Dwarka in May 2025 was truly fantastic and perfectly complemented our pilgrimage. Arriving on May 2nd after our Somnath visit, we found this bungalow to be an ideal choice for convenience and comfort. The location is a major highlight. It's incredibly close to the main market, just about a 5-minute walk, making it super easy to access for any needs. Dwarkadhish Temple is a pleasant 15-minute walk, and if you prefer not to walk, rickshaws are readily available right outside. For all other famous attractions like Nageshwar Temple, Bet Dwarka, and Rukmini Devi Temple, rickshaws are easily accessible from here. We also appreciated its proximity to the Gayatri Temple and the beach, both just a short distance away.
The bungalow itself offers excellent facilities. We stayed on the first floor, which featured two comfortable king-size beds, and they thoughtfully provided an extra bed for our family's needs. The bed sheets were spotlessly clean and neat, which we really appreciated. All rooms in the bungalow are equipped with AC, ensuring a comfortable stay. Our stay also included a clean and high-quality RO water purifier, a huge convenience. The bungalow boasts a lovely lawn area with chairs, perfect for relaxing outdoors. Additionally, there's a common kitchen where we could easily prepare tea, though it's equipped for small cooking tasks if needed. A special mention must go to the caretaker, ShamjiBhai, who was an incredibly helpful and kind person, ensuring our stay was smooth...
Read moreDuring our recent trip to India, we had the pleasure of visiting the holy city of Dwarka, and our stay at Gurukrupa Bungalow made the experience even more memorable. We stayed for one night with our family of four, and it was truly a comfortable and peaceful stay.
The property is managed by two elderly couples who were incredibly warm, kind, and welcoming. They treated us like family, constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality added a personal touch that made us feel right at home.
The rooms were spacious, very clean, and thoughtfully maintained. The bedding was fresh and comfortable, and the washrooms were spotless — something that matters a lot when traveling with family. The overall cleanliness and attention to detail really stood out.
Another great aspect of this place is its convenient location — Dwarkadhish Temple is just a 7–10 minute walk from the bungalow, making it easy to visit early in the morning or in the evening without worrying about transport. If you’re in the mood for a hot beverage, tea or coffee can be arranged easily by the housekeeping staff, who were also polite and attentive.
In summary, Gurukrupa Bungalow offers not just a place to stay, but a genuinely heartwarming experience. It’s clean, well-maintained, conveniently located, and run by people who truly care about their guests. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Dwarka, whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or...
