I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Southern Deck along with my kids, a beachside restaurant located in the scenic coastal town of Benaulim, Goa. My visit was just to experience the beach side restaurant in Goa, so that we are just ordered a Pizza only, because our food was waiting at our resort. My experience at this establishment was nothing short of delightful, as it offered a captivating ambiance, exceptional cuisine, and live music that elevated the overall dining experience. The Southern Deck boasts an outstanding ambiance that can easily be described as a tropical paradise. Nestled along the serene Benaulim Beach, the restaurant offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. The open-air seating area is surrounded by lush greenery and beautifully designed wooden furniture, creating a relaxed and rustic vibe. Soft, warm lighting and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore make for a truly magical setting. The culinary offerings at The Southern Deck were a pleasant surprise. The menu featured a diverse range of dishes, including local Goan specialties and international options. We decided to try the "Goan Chorizo Pizza," and it was nothing short of outstanding. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, the toppings were generous, and the combination of chorizo and traditional Goan spices was a flavor explosion. It was a dish that embodied the essence of Goan cuisine, and even our kids, who can be quite picky eaters, couldn't get enough of it. The Southern Deck's beverage selection is truly impressive. They offer a wide array of cocktails, mocktails, beer, and liquors to suit every taste. From classic Goan feni-based cocktails to imported wines, you'll find something to complement your meal. One of the highlights of our evening at The Southern Deck was the live music. A talented local band performed a mix of Goan and international tunes, adding to the overall charm of the restaurant. The music wasn't too loud, allowing for easy conversation, and it created a pleasant atmosphere throughout the evening The only drawback to The Southern Deck was the pricing. While the experience, food, and drinks were exceptional, it's worth noting that this beachside restaurant does come with a higher price tag. This is to be expected to some extent, given the beautiful ambiance and prime location, but it may not suit all budgets. However, it's important to keep in mind that the fantastic ambiance and live music do add significant value to the overall dining experience. In conclusion, The Southern Deck in Benaulim, Goa, offers a unique and enchanting dining experience. The combination of its outstanding beachside ambiance, live music, and an impressive array of cocktails and mocktails make it an excellent choice for a special evening. I would highly recommend The Southern Deck for a memorable and romantic dining...
Read moreAn Absolute Gem – Amazing Food, Drinks & Value!
After a very disappointing experience at another restaurant nearby, we decided to head to The Southern Deck, and it truly made our day! From start to finish, everything was just perfect – the food, the drinks, the service, and the value for money. • Starters: We began with the Crispy Chicken with Sriracha Mayo – juicy chunks of chicken with the perfect batter (crispy cornflakes, not heavy maida) and a generous portion for the price. It was absolutely delicious. The Fish Fingers were another winner – panko-fried, perfectly crumbed, and made with chonak (not basa, which was such a pleasant surprise). Both starters set the tone for an excellent meal. • Mains & More: The Mughlai Sholay Kebabs were outstanding – so juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. We also tried the Pork Dimsums, and they were bursting with flavor, melt-in-the-mouth good. The Cheese Garlic Naan was a delight – cheese stuffed inside, garlic on top – perfectly balanced and incredibly tasty. • Drinks: I ordered a Gin & Tonic with Elderflower, and it was so refreshing, crisp, and beautifully balanced. A great drink to pair with the food. • Desserts: We ended with the White Chocolate Cheesecake and the Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake – both were absolutely divine. Creamy, rich, and indulgent – the perfect way to finish a meal. • Value for Money: For all this – multiple starters, mains, drinks, and desserts – our bill came up to ₹4,100, which is incredible considering the quality and quantity. The portions were generous, the flavors spot on, and nothing felt overpriced.
I’ve been to The Southern Deck a few times before, but after returning yesterday after almost two years, it still lived up to its reputation. The food, service, and ambience have remained consistent and excellent.
Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Goa – a must-visit for great food, great portions, and a...
Read moreThe place was recommended and hence visited the place at 12 pm. It was on the way to get open by 12.30. They staff did not allow us to rest inside, instead asked us to take a seat at the cabana in the heat of the sun. We got a pitcher of beer while we waited patiently for the restaurant to be open, which unlike 12.30pm mentioned opened at 1.15 pm. By then we ordered a fresh lime soda to beat the heat. Their waiter who started serving me disappeared at 3pm. We had the Goan beef chilly, with some Poi, which was the only thing good. Ordered spicy broccoli and cabbage, which turned out very average. The scam begins when we start ordering more cocktails, we had a pina colada, a margarita, a couple of whisky sours which the menu says the original was Rs. 400 and then we asked what would be the cost for whiskey sour with monkey shoulder. The waiter serving informed that it's 100 extra per cocktail. When we asked for the bill, we were shocked at a bill of around Rs. 11K. When checking for help a manager named Romik, appears and takes 40 mins to review the bill and send another bill of 6K. Which was again wrong. He then takes another 30 mins to come up with another bill for 3.5k. We then paid and were leaving, Romik follows is to the car and tells us we have still to pay more, we end up back at the bar area with another manager now. Who tells us he had not added a drink and comes up with a new bill which was another 1.3k. we pay the bill and leave this horrible ordeal. Do not spend money on such crap establishments who con people. We had a better experience at Martin's corner with friendly attentive waiters. Adding the photos of the managers here. Beware of them billing you whatever they feel. Felt like all the waiters and managers were hand in hand in this...
