This was a last minute booking for me after my reservation with OYO rooms was cancelled. I'm glad it panned out that way. ||||Paul (the owner) came up to the main road to meet me and drove me along the 5 minutes of backroads on the back of his moped. Right from this point I started to recognise his commitment and enthusiasm to service/a good experience. ||||The guesthouse itself is located between the main Fort Aguada Road (opposite Newtons supermarket) and the beach, roughly 10 minutes walk along a little winding road which ensures quietness from the many bars and restaurants. It's small (only 2 rooms on the top floor) but homely, clean, comfortable and very fairly priced (1,200Rs for air con). Each room has a little balcony which was great for drying clothes and the occasional cigarette. Also had a fridge and brand spanking new bathrooms, however no WIFI at the time I stayed (though he has plans to install something soon). The double bed was a little uncomfortable, being two singles pushed together and having pretty unsubstantial mattresses, but other than that very nice. ||||Paul and his wife were very approachable, spoke great English, and were able to help in a number of ways (trains/car/bike bookings, suggestions on restaurants, beaches, other recreational activities etc). We felt part of the family there, which was ace. ||||Highly recommended. Only suggestion to Paul - get a sign on...
Read moreWe were booked in a 4* hotel in the quieter Benualim, but we missed Candolim so booked a couple of nights. Didn't know what to expect or where we were really going. A little off the beaten track but once found, so easily within reach of everything. Couldnt have asked for any more, Margarita and her family are the best hosts, nothing too much. Its their home and you become very appreciative of the generosity. Rooms are spotless, basic in some ways but everything you need. Fridge, somewhere to cook. Little (very little) shop opposite with the basics. Yes there are dogs barking but you feel alot more within a community than a hotel. We booked an extra night, and booked to cut our holiday short in Benualim to return at new year...even had a birthday cake waiting. The personal touches were there. Location is brill, and you actually see more than just beach road and the traffic mayhem. Loced our stay and already planning next year. Forget the big hotels...||Only improvement would be...get a...
Read moreWe had a lovely stay at the Guitar Guest house, the room was spotlessly clean, with a kitchen area, and a lovely walk in shower. The bed was really soft and was like sleeping in a cloud! we even extended our stay||||The guest house is located at the bottom of Candolim beach road just past the pond by the little shop (very handy for last minute supplies) The rooms are on the first floor, just a short walk to the beach...and a short stroll to all the restaurants and shops in beach road. It was lovely to see the Green Parrot feeding every morning from the balcony.||||We would not hesitate to stay there again....||||The Hosts Manuel and Margarita, were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble ..would not hesitate...
