I'll try to keep this brief...||It all started with the lady owner refusing to accept that full payment was done online. At the time of checkout, it was mentioned that such was the case, and needless to say, I thought it was a confusion that won't take much time to be cleared. So I showed them the Booking Id on XYZ website (say), offered to call the Customer Care dept. of the company (website)....but no..wait! "What du I du by talking? I dun't know anything, you are paying me right now...(*bangs desk)".....When I was showing him(the aforementioned lady's husband) the Booking Id on my phone, he snatched away the phone from me and wouldn't let go...I repeatedly kept on telling him..."Sir, I need it for a call urgently", etc., but he turned a deaf ear to it...At this point, I started feeling helpless as he had raised his voice too many times by now and was simply not ready to listen to me. So much so, that I had to explicitly tell him.."Sir I am feeling intimidated by the way you are treating me, could you please lower your voice?"....After a waste of a good 1/2hr or so being bullied like this, I decided I'll make the payment as "ordered", but in exchange, I requested for a bill with a couple of lines stating the discrepancies in terms of the Double payment, so that I can write a mail to the XYZ website and take it up with them. Now she (the wife) is suddenly back in the picture..."I'll write whatever I understood"....and guess what she does? She gives me a handwritten challan amounting 1500/- and merely mentions 1011...... (the booking Id) on the slip, without even writing "booking Id"....when I pleaded with her again to at-least mention that Customer is complaining about double payment, here's what she wrote- "Custmr cmplains Pd Dbl"..... with "Pd Dbl" being indecipherable. Defeated, I responded by saying "this is not the way to treat customers"...but I should've realised they were in full capacity to understand that and hence did not deserve a genuine remark on the same, as it made NO difference. And this was reinforced by a dismissive "Ya-Ya" by the male owner in the background.||||I hope no one else goes through the same ordeal as I did here, thank you for...
Read moreI stayed at Hotel Casablanca, Morjim, Goa for two weeks. It was a solo trip and my initial plan was for one week but I like the place so much that I decided to extend my stay, and convert my vacation to a workation. The property has spacious, well furnished rooms with an outside seating space. It also has a big beautiful garden which has a lawn, garden chairs and table, and many big trees and flowering plants. The furniture and the linen in the room make it feel more home-like than a hotel. This is also because the hosts - Natalia and Igor - are most gracious and friendly.
The place is just 2 mins away from the beautiful Morjim beach. That made it possible for me to be at the beach every morning and evening, while during the day, I could work at the hotel. The beach is huge and has few beachside shacks and restaurants, making it ideal if you want to have a quiet holiday. The wifi at the hotel can get choppy at times but mostly does it’s job. Mobile network is good around the place, so video calls shouldn’t be an issue. The place has a restaurant and bar, but it was not functional due to the pandemic when I visited. Food is, however, available on request, and was very good.
All in all, a fantastic place if you want a quiet homely place near the beach to spend some time relaxing, or planning...
Read moreThe hotel is a bit hard to spot, you'll need to take the small dirt track next to Sam's Pub N Bistro or you'll have to drive all the way to Morjim beach and then take the small track directly opposite to the entrance to the beach. The area has a lot of Russians staying and it's not uncommon to find signs in Russian everywhere. The hotel is run by a charming Russian couple who stay there with their family. You'll also be able to find many Russian dishes at the hotel, all exquisitely prepared. The ambience is very pleasant and you'll find various assortment of seating, sofas, chairs, etc. and a small outdoor seating area. The kitchen is open and well maintained and you can see their chefs at work. Staying at the hotel gives you the added advantage of being able to order the dishes to want, with the staff sourcing them and preparing them to order. The hotel is barely 200m away from Morjim beach which is pleasant and not as boisterous as Anjuna beach and has a lot of shallow area. The 3 nights that we stayed were enjoyable and I would stay there again. The only fly in the ointment was that the mattress was a bit wet, with no rooms available to shift into. Overall, a very homely feeling place, very unlike the resorts nearby. I would recommend staying here, if planning a...
