Not enough…
The employees are friendly, the surrounding area was also pleasant with some plants, but in general the standard is very low. -Some areas are old, damaged or poorly arranged. -Before going up to the bungalows there is a bucket with plastic water to remove the sand from your feet, but the water is not changed frequently. -The floor at the entrance to the bungalows is covered in horrible plastic with a print that looks like tiles. -The floor of the bungalows are carpeted, which makes no sense in what is supposed to be a beach house, in addition to being much more difficult to keep it clean and sanitized. -The air conditioning control didn't work well. We asked the employee to see what was going on, he changed the batteries, but the remote still had some malfunctions (it didn't turn on or off well). -When we went to shower there was no hot water. We ended up realizing at check out that it was because the boiler was not turned on, but no one has ever turned it on since our check in. -The music was always too loud and woke us up very early. We just wanted to rest… -The amount paid per night (60€ without breakfast) is not adequate for the services provided and the conditions offered. -We were charged 2300INR for a transfer from the airport in Goa in a good car, but when we asked for a transfer to the center of Goa we were charged 2500INR for a small, old car with broken seats (super uncomfortable), which we were not happy with.
The only positive aspects are: -The view to the beach (although the beach is not great, as there are many trip boats and it is not possible to see the bottom of the water as the water was cloudy, perhaps because the sand is brownish. -The restaurant is very good. Great food, at night they put the tables on the beach and we had dinner by candlelight while we could watch the football game on the restaurant's television. -We needed to rent a motorbike to get to know the surroundings and they also arranged one for us 500INR...
Read moreWe stayed here for three nights in the first week of February in the beach facing huts located on the first floor and had an excellent stay. We had booked based on the reviews and the property being value for money and it turned out to be a right decision.
The check in was smooth. The person at reception, Rohan needs a special mention. We had another booking for our friend and he couldn't turn up. We informed him just three days before check in. Even though half payment was made and it was non refundable, he agreed to balance it from our tariff, if the room gets booked. He was honest about it and refunded the amount. This was a great honest gesture.
The beach facing huts were better than expected. An extra cot is also provided in the Hut. The cleanliness and hygiene was good. The service was excellent. One thing that could be improved is the quality of linens and a comforter may be provided instead of a blanket. However they gave us two extra bedsheets and we used that instead of the blanket. The air-conditioning was good.
The attached restaurant to the property, Sea breeze, was a letdown though. Earlier we used to stay at Palolem beach at Ciarans, and this was our first stay at Agonda Beach. Their restaurant there was superb and we had similar expectations but it was not up to the mark. The first night we ordered a grilled king fish, even paid fourteen hundred for that and left so disappointed that we didn't eat any fish during the trip. The breakfast was okay. The service was super and the staff was very cordial.
The agonda beach is less livelier than Palolem but no less beautiful. We enjoyed the sea and the kayaking at the northern end of beach. We explored the nearby highly rated restaurants. Most of them were walkable distance from the property.
Overall, an excellent stay. Suggest to explore nearby restaurants. The property arranged us cab transfer from Dabolim airport. We were charged Rs 2300 one way for a hatchback. It was...
Read moreStayed here for two nights with family and friends, and would definitely recommend to people who love a peaceful and quiet stay by beach side. We stayed in a garden facing huts as we could not get a sea facing hut. But we later realized that it does not matter much as we could always go out and sit on the beach side anytime.
Here are few good & bad things we felt throughout our stay.
What is good? Location - Agonda beach is very calm & peaceful beach with very less crowd compared to palolem or colva. Room cleanliness & maintenance - Rooms were very clean and spacious bathroom. We did not have any trouble with water or AC. Activities - Though there are no water sports like jet ski or parasailing, there are boats right outside the beach huts which would take you to butterfly beach and dolphin sightseeing. Recommend to go early morning for good experience. There is also agonda backwater kayaking which you can go in high-tide time to enjoy.
What is not so good? Food - Only continental/north indian food available and pretty costly. No goan cuisines or any south indian cuisines available. I would suggest to explore local hotels outside the restaurant which are in 1-2km range. Car parking - only 6 cars can be parked at any time and we would have to leave our car keys with hotel staff or we would be bugged if someone has to take their car out. Hospitality - Though the staff is good, owner (in my opinion) is not so friendly. We felt that he was very rude in talking & did not even once inquired whether we were enjoying the stay.
Overall it was a nice stay and we enjoyed a lot. Hopefully the restaurant adds some...
