I had the absolute worst experience at Manali Mountain Regency Hotel. This is, without a doubt, the most disappointing and appalling place I have ever stayed at in my life. If I could give zero stars, I would.
Firstly, all the positive reviews online are completely fake. The only “good” reviews are from 3–4 years ago, and clearly, the hotel has gone downhill since then. The entire property is in a state of utter disrepair, and calling it a hotel is an insult to actual hotels.
Room Conditions: We booked their so-called “top superior room,” but what we were given was nothing short of a nightmare. The room was tiny, filthy, and disgustingly unhygienic. It looked more like a khota than a room, with cheap neon lights that made it unbearable. Used condoms, burned cigarette stubs, rats, and flies were everywhere. Yes, you read that right—rats! This is the state of their “superior” room!
Staff & Service: There are only two staff members in the entire hotel, and they looked like they just woke up and were forced to stand at the reception. The staff was unbelievably rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. They didn’t even bother offering us water or helping us with our luggage. We had to carry everything ourselves!
Check-in Nightmare: We arrived at 12:30 PM, well after their check-in time of 12 PM, but our room wasn’t ready. Despite waiting, the room’s condition was so appalling that my husband and I decided not to check in. When we approached the so-called “manager” and explained how misleading their listings on MakeMyTrip and Goibibo were, he showed zero concern. Instead of resolving the issue or offering a refund, he arrogantly said, “This is what we have.”
Refund Denied: When we requested a refund—or at least a partial refund—he flatly refused. They didn’t even bother checking our IDs or providing any services, yet they happily took ₹20,000 from us without delivering anything in return. This is blatant fraud!
Overall Experience: This hotel is the absolute worst. I cannot emphasize enough how angry, disappointed, and cheated I feel. It’s unhygienic, poorly managed, and the staff lacks basic decency. Please don’t fall for the fake reviews like we did. Avoid this place at all costs—it’s not worth a single penny, let alone ₹20,000!
Save yourself the horror and stay anywhere...
Read moreI am from Sri Lanka. I had the worst experience in our Shimla / Manali Tour with Sri Lankan Travel Agent Travelco.
When we finally checked into the hotel at Manali, it turned out to be one of the worst experiences of the entire trip. The rooms were in an appalling condition, totally unkempt and far from the standard we were expecting. The bed sheets and pillow covers were visibly dirty and unclean, which is unacceptable for any accommodation. Additionally, the water glasses were not cleaned, the floor of the room was messy, and the bathroom was not cleaned, adding to the overall unpleasantness.
To make matters worse, the dinner at the hotel was described as horrible, further compounding the disappointment. The quality of food was poor, and it did not meet the standards of what we would expect, especially after a long day of travel. The overall lack of cleanliness, coupled with the terrible dining experience, made the hotel stay an extremely negative part of the trip, leaving a bitter memory of our time in Manali.
I was then faced with an unexpected and unfair demand on checking out. The hotel staff accused me of being responsible for a burnt bed sheet, which I was not involved in and not informed about. They demanded INR 23,000 as compensation, which was both unreasonable and unjust. When I questioned the charge, the hotel staff became increasingly rude and refused to let the group leave until the payment was made.
The situation escalated to the point where I had to threaten to call the local police in order to resolve the issue. Only after this, the hotel staff agreed and accept a reduced amount of INR 1,000 and allow us to check out. This encounter with the hotel staff was a deeply unpleasant and...
