I am delighted to share my experience of staying at this hotel, which was not even my first choice. I had initially booked the Oberoi Gurgaon, based on its high ratings and my friend's recommendation. However, my cousin persuaded me to switch to this hotel, citing its convenient location on the main road, easy access to the Ambiance mall, and distance to her home. I am glad I followed her advice and cancelled my reservation at the Oberoi. Although I am sure that hotel is also wonderful, this one has won my heart!
There are many reasons why I love this hotel, but I will start with the food. As a foodie, I was amazed by the variety and quality of the buffet and the live food stations. I have travelled to 65 countries and stayed at many hotels, both chain and boutique, for business and leisure. I have tasted many cuisines and dishes at different hotel restaurants, but none of them could compare to the breakfast and brunch at this hotel. They had everything from international delicacies, freshly made pastas and breads, mouth-watering pastries and pancakes, to traditional Indian fare like parathas, dosa, idli, and Asian specialties. The menu changed daily, so I never got bored of the food. I was so full that I could barely fit into my pants!
Another reason why I liked this hotel was its location. It was very easy to get to Gurgaon from the hotel, but getting to Delhi was a bit of a challenge due to the traffic. However, that was not a big issue for me, as I appreciated the convenience of reaching the hotel from the airport in just 15 minutes. After a long flight, the last thing I wanted was a lengthy car ride to the hotel.
The most important reason why I loved this hotel was the service. I was impressed by the professionalism and hospitality of everyone who worked there, from the security guards at the entrance, to the staff at the reception, to the servers at the restaurant, to the housekeepers who cleaned my room, to the concierge and front desk staff who assisted me with my travel arrangements and other needs. They all greeted me with a smile and made me feel welcome and comfortable. I would like to mention some of the staff members who went above and beyond to make my stay memorable: Priyanshi, who checked on me regularly and asked for my feedback and suggestions; Pawan, Hemant, who served me delicious food and drinks at the Spectre restaurant and Arpita who always welcomes us when entering Spectre, also Ashok, who escorts me every time to the elevator and wished me a good day; Mohit, Vineet, and Mukhand, who helped me with booking taxis and tours who are in Conceierge; and Manu, who makes the best chai and Gaurav who serves breakfast in the morning.
What touched my heart the most was the fact that the hotel employed several deaf and mute staff members like Manu and Gaurav, who performed their duties with excellence and confidence. They communicated with me through gestures and notes, and I never felt any difficulty in understanding them. They were friendly and courteous, and I admired their skills and abilities. My mother, who is disabled herself, was also moved by this gesture of inclusion and empowerment. We rarely see such opportunities for people with disabilities in customer-facing roles, especially in India. I commend the hotel for providing them with the training and tools they needed to succeed in their jobs and earn a living, instead of relying on the government or charity.
I had to leave the hotel for a wedding, but I am looking forward to returning soon. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Delhi. Thank you, Leela Ambiance Gurgaon, for an amazing stay and for taking such good care of me and my mother. You have earned a loyal customer for life. The next time I have to travel to Delhi for business or pleasure, I will definitely choose this hotel again.
My only suggestion is to get larger luxury vehicles for taller passengers like myself. The BMW X5 and BMW 5 series is too small when you’re 6’6” (198 cm) tall. I hear they had an Audi A8 before, get that or 7 series BMW...
Read moreI’m staying at the Leela Gurgoan for my moms birthday celebration. To start with we checked in at 5pm- and the room was not even ready. I had asked for basic birthday decoration in the room which the hotel gave complimentary. Unfortunately it was not done. So we ate at the coffee shop in the mean time. Not what you expect when you especially give reminders a day before as well and check in time is 2pm usually so they should have been prepared with the same. Check in staff is not professional or experienced at the reception. I booked a suite on the Royal club floor and the lady told me that club lounge is complementary. However when we went to the lounge and I sat down at the reception the person who took my room number verified it and then took me inside the lounge and gave me a table. After being seated , I got up to take some food for my self while taking the food- the same person who got me inside told me sorry to tell you but you don’t have lounge access. I stood there with food in my plate. It was so humiliating and embarrassing. Literally they have 0 etiquettes and don’t know how to behave with guests.i left my plate on the table and then walked out. The manager of the lounge then came till the corridor and apologised for his colleagues behaviour and asked me to come back inside. Speaking of spectra, my mom had invited 6 of her friends there- the food was horrible - the quality was literally below average. Felt like everything was just heated up and given. The service was equally bad it felt like waiters were very inexperienced and had no knowledge. The food took so so long to arrive atleast 45-50 minutes. The coffee came after 1.5 hours. The French fries were raw and the Alfredo pasta only tasted of milk. As a token of apology - Saurav who I believe is a manager or something at spectra told us that they will give us complimentary food for dinner so we told him we would order in the room. We ordered one pasta and one soup- and guess what he went back on his words. He said that he could not give it free for some reason- i told him then that no one wants or is begging for free pasta anyway and I would happily pay for both the dishes. We always stay at the Leela Chanakyapuri and honestly this is no comparison to that. Leela Chanakyapuri is a class apart. The room was good and very clean, that’s the only thing I can give this hotel. All in all the worst experience this is no where compared to a 5 star- I feel horrible because my moms birthday is spoilt. Otherwise I would not have taken this to my heart. Terrible experience, wish I would have not chosen this hotel for...
