Hotel Dhauladhar (HPTDC) — Hotel in Himachal Pradesh

Beware of Restaurant staff. They try to fool you by saying multiple things, and findings reasons not to fulfill your orders. In morning, we ordered for Butter Naan and Butter Lacha Paratha. They put it without Butter, and billed us for both the items with Butter. They disputed it and later on said that they cannot change the bill. However, to rectify they promised to compliment two Butter Naan in evening. This time when we ordered in evening we reminded them about there promise. However, again this time they tried to negotiate to compliment only one instead of two. And, this time they had become too cheap saying that onions which they provide complimentary usually, they have not billed to us. After lot of negotiations they settled to compliment one Paratha and one piece boiled egg for free. I beware every one to be very sure about what they order and what they get. Hotel Dhauladar is under HPTDC. After spending days at Mahindra Club Resorts in Shimla and Manali my family and I made a stop at this hotel for a few days. My stay here ended up being the most comfortable mainly because we had hot water and heater 24/7 at our disposal unlike in Mahindra (considering it is winter). Majority of staff is friendly and helpful, though i did meet one that was indifferent and lazy. Food quality and quantity is excellent. On request they even gave boneless chicken dishes. There might be some repair jobs like tightening of door hinges or so and it might not be as grand but i am highly impressed. Location is good... u get a good view and just outside the gate there are stores and restaurants. One suggestion would be to buy water bottles from outside stores.... food prices here are cheaper or comparable to outside but water bottles are costlier. I stayed in Double Bed Deluxe A/C on 30th March, 2018. Room was clean & spacious though Bathroom was old and need repair. Facilities available were LED TV, A/C, Geyser, free WiFi, Intercom, parking etc. However, WiFi & Intercom were not working. Staff were ok. Food was excellent but too expensive. You can dine indoor as well as in the Lawn. They charged me Rs. 53/- for one glass of milk. One more item that I found expensive is Gulab Jamun with Ice-cream, the quantity was very less i.e. one piece of small G.J. with ice cream in very small cup and they charged Rs. 110/- . Hotel looks shabby from outside but it is good inside particularly Reception & Corridor area. Location of the Hotel is good, market is nearby, accessible to McLeodganj, you can have a good view of Dhauladhar range from Lawn & Restaurant area.
