Very disappointing experience.
I spent 8 nights there and if I hadn't prepaid I would have left after the first night, It bills itself as having 2 restaurants and that is true enough but one of them is used only for big functions, the other being a tiny breakfast room. Breakfast was monotonously the same, fruit juice, fruit, toast, eggs and porridge or cornflakes if one wanted, Dinner was the same monotonous "set menu" with a limited choice, the same day in day out. Service was sloppy and there aren't enough staff, most of the work being done by one man, glasses left dirty for days, room not cleaned properly, food left overnight etc. There were no blankets on the bed and the nights were quite cold and one night I thought I would freeze to death for lack of blankets. It was only when a friend lent me a blanket that suddenly the hotel produced 2 !! The rooms are big but nothing like the photos - from which I imagined something luxurious as in previous haveli hotels. They are furnished with old stuff, but not as in antique, just old. In fact they have quite a claustrophobic feel to them since the windows don't open and there is little natural light. Some of the rooms can be very noisy, I had one totally sleepless night thanks to the constant barking of 2 dogs. I complained and was moved to another room. There was no tea/coffee making facility and very little in the way of complimentary toiletries. This hotel is VERY expensive for what it offers compared to similar hotels. In fact my best moment in the Saba Haveli...
Read moreThis hotel was so much more than we could hope for! It had all the amenities you need for a long stay (& we are picky Americans from Manhattan); ac, fans, lots of working windows that open (you can always get that perfect temperature), good room layout, comfy bed, a big shower with lots of hot water, a private garden across the street, an amazing rooftop city view of all the forts and palaces, and the food! Every meal was incredible. Because of all this that we didn’t feel like we needed to leave the hotel. We had a lot of variety, cooking class, the puppet show, a romantic private candle lit dinner on the roof, hanging in the private garden across the street. The staff was incredible and every request (like late night ice cream) was met and exceeded. ||But the condition of the hotel is really what makes it special. They let the beautiful old things be old, but added complimentary and well functioning design. Most importantly the space is elegant and very comfortable but the best part is that there is a layer of charming grit and history that makes the past and the present feel real and come together perfectly. Do yourself a favor and stay here. ||As a lesbian couple we felt so safe and welcome and hope everyone gets a chance to stay at this magical place, we...
Read moreThis hotel is heratage hotel around 300 years old. Designed by British arhitects, this days building outside shows the needs of restauration maintenance.
Apparently it's the first heratage hotel recognised by government in the whole Rajistan.
Personal here was very friendly and polite. This is most beautiful and important thing about Saba Haveli.
Our room was specious. The bed was big and comfortable. The electric socket on right side of the bed was faulty and couldn't be used.
On the first afternoon we have lost electricity. It hasn't been resolved for couple of hours.
Bathroom was spacious but there was no towel rails at all. Shower rosette was spraying all over bathroom.
The shower rosette has been fixed the same morning we told them about problem.
Room has been cleaned accordingly.
View from our room wasn't nice.
On the first night we have decided to have dinner at the top of building. Dinner was very nice. Although there is no actual written menue or barcode menue, they will happily tell you what they can make it and how much it will cost you. They are cooking everything from the scratch, so patience was worth it. Only thing is that wine is very expensive here.
Breakfasts have been delicious. We did have lovely stay at...
