Itsy Hotels Hill Town — Hotel in Karnataka

A visit to this property made after 15 years, stayed in same room but was truly disappointed with the present condition. Probably owners are not interested to run the show any more. It was wonderful experience prompted me to book at the same hotel, which was placed in heart of city, rates were affordable those time as well as at present. Rooms are/ were roomy and neat looking, comfortable to accommodate 3-4 adults easily, front desk staff were courteous!! There ends the pluses, then it all disappointing, had to take shower in cold winter morning in ice cold water, the reason cited was no power (even though generator was on) and a big bunch of (90) students on trip finished hot water. Yes it was justifiable and we waited for a long duration on their suggestion but our family suffered for that! They could not provide a bucket of hot water for kid. Since no restaurant was there, need to explore outside all food. Even though assured a bed tea, could not provide it! May be 15 years was quite a long period for them to come down to this level. But still rooms were all booked, thanks to the location alone. Heart of city! Yes for a nights stay, this is more than sufficient. Looked safe for family, so can still recommend for short stay. Best part of the hotel is ample car parking available, which may be a big problem for most of hotels in madikkeri city.

While reviews on Google were largely favorable, this venue did not meet our expectations. I would rate this is a 2-star (minus) hotel. Hotel staff was friendly, patient, and helpful. However, the facilities were orderly but not clean. The rooms had an odd odor, and the sheets had visible stains. Rooms are locked from the outside with a strange bolt. No A/C and windows are barred, meaning others can't come in, but you also can't get out.

Bathroom is simply a room with spigot, drain, and a toilet. At least there is a toilet, but otherwise bring your own supplies.

Also, the clientele who patronize the establishment were not an orderly or considerate lot. Children and families were piled into rooms, and running about at all hours. Location was hard to find as the building is situated at the very back of an alley. There is parking, but very limited.

In a short time it became unbearable, so much so that we abandoned our 3-day booking. You really get what you pay for. Not worth it. This may be okay for those on a shoe-string budget or backpackers looking to rest their heads for a night. Not great for Western travelers, or those seeking to be comfortable.

Had a horrible experience !! Had booked this hotel via Treebo after seeing the positive reviews.

1.Firstly , I was allotted a smaller room then what I had booked .I had to request him to give me the correct room.

2.Throughout our stay , our room was filled with a very bad stench coming from bathroom or outside.

3. Perhaps this is the only hotel where they serve cold breakfast and even cold chai as a regular practice. Although they replaced the chai after complaining.Something as basic as chutney , got over according to them.

4. Bedding ,pillows ,towels,etc. were not clean. Got them changed and even the changed ones were not perfectly clean.Not sure if they were washed properly .

5.Landline meant for room service was also not working. Had to call directly on cell for room service.

6.Basic toilteries were also missing. Dental kit was not in stock according to the staff but was given to us after insisting. Body wash dispenser was faulty and was not replaced ,because apparently that was also out of stock. Similarly , hand wash bottle was also empty and had to be requested.

7. Housekeeping is available only at specific times.
