Great host family very friendly made us feel like part of the family. Sukran is such a lovely gentleman, so so helpful nothing was too much trouble, he organised everything for us ;;from our laundry washing to booking tickets for evening shows, to sunrise trekking/bamboo rafting adventure in the Periyer national park and taxi for our onward journey. |Sukran one afternoon took us to places that no other tourists would have been too off the beaten track, stunning scenic places thank you Sukran!!.|We done a cookery lesson on traditional kerela food with the family including sukrans eldest daughter who was a bright young lady, we had a wonderful evening it was lots of fun especially the way they slice onion and vegetables without a chopping it was amazing to watch sukrans wife made it look so easy to do but it wasn't when we tried!!|One evening we went to a yodah martial arts show which was very interesting we really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.|Our room was fantastic with private balcony we also had a bath!!! We stayed at Panthalam Homestay as we (group of 6) booked a trekking tour in Periyar Tiger Reserve. |The house is spacious and and rooms (including bathroom) are nice and clean. Views into the valley are stunning and there is a superb rooftop terrace to hang out. |Yet, the best about our experience was meeting entertaining Shuku and his family. At any time of the stay, we were spoilt. Due to our late arrival, we were able to have a delicious dinner at the homestay. Further, there was breakfast options available, including coffee and tea. Although the homstay is only a few 100m away from town, Shuku drove and picked us up several times. |If you need help or information, you'll ask Shuku and he'll help to arrange it for fair prices (tours, transport). |After our trekking tour, we decided for a spontaneous cooking class at the homstay, learning about Keralan dishes. Hospitality of sukoor is amazing 👏 Within great Theni mountains (Thekkady) From the upper floors of stay get a nice view of periyar National Park. All sorts of nature's mesmerizing sounds of birds, insects, animals can be heared all round the clock from the stay which will relax your mind . Very good home stay food sukoor prepared for us one night we stayed for about 3 night . A walk and you will be inside great periyar National Park. Get the ferry ride ticket online a day before. 15 mins drive you will be mesmerized with smell of coriander in a flowrish cultivation of 50kms .
