I recently stayed at this homestay, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While the concept of a homestay is meant to provide a cozy, welcoming environment, this property fell short in several key areas.

Cleanliness and Maintenance The cleanliness of the property left much to be desired. The surrounding premises were dirty, which gave off an unkempt and uninviting vibe right from the start. Inside, one of the bathrooms had a strong stench of alcohol and cigarettes, which was extremely unpleasant. The other bathroom lacked a working geyser, making it inconvenient for anyone needing hot water. Overall, the place clearly suffers from poor maintenance and neglect.

Food Service The homestay does not prepare food on-site but instead sources meals from an external restaurant. While this isn’t necessarily a bad practice, the prices they charge for these meals are exorbitant and unjustified. For anyone planning to stay here, I strongly recommend using Swiggy or another food delivery service instead, as it is both more affordable and convenient (verified that Swiggy delivers to this location).

If you are planning a trip to kodai with your friends or family then I highly recommend you to stay at De Huts. This place is magical and it has a great vibe. The hill view is absolutely brilliant and the sit out is a great to spot to blend with Nature. The house has 3 spacious bedrooms, hall, dining and a beautiful garden at the backyard. One more reason you should pick this place is for Udhay, He is an amazing host. He guided us to many less explored places in Kodai and made sure our stay was pleasant. He was always happy to help and just a phone call away. I recommend you to leave your kodai trip planning to him. We were served with delicious food specially home cooked for us by John anna. Travel has become tricky due to covid but if you stay at De Huts you are in safe hands. The bonfire spot is an add on feature to this beautiful property. Overall, if you stay at De Huts you will definitely come back with soulful memories....

One of the best places we have stayed at ever! The bungalow is located in a gorgeously maintained 1 acre garden. We rented the whole bungalow and pottering around at all times of the day in the garden and lazing in the beautifully appointed living room was the high point of my elderly parents trip! They made a point of bird watching in the morning and taking their evening tea in the garden. Very spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Well maintained too. The house is located in a quiet part of town 2.5 km from the lake area. It was manageable distance for the younger of us and we walked down for lunch and dinner and cycling every day. Breakfast was provided. A couple of nights we got the provisions and put together dinner in the spacious kitchen of the house. All mod cons including fridge and mixer are present.
