I had stayed here for five days. It is conveniently located. The market place is close and the walk to & fro is short & safe.||||The view from the garden is spectacular. There is ample parking available for your hired vehicles. The hospitality of the resort is excellent. The hotel staff/butlers as well is warm, welcoming and friendly.||||The rooms are very comfortable with adequate amenities including room heater, TV, sofaset, closet, etc. The room linen is clean and tidy. The bathroom and the loo are clean and hygienic with round-the-clock hot water.||||Dining is available in the dining room as well as the bedroom. The food menu for all meals is varied, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Indian or local will be made available to you as per your request. The food is nicely cooked, healthy and good to taste. You can have a multi-course meal to suit your appetite and taste. The kitchen and wait staff is very friendly and ready to ensure your special, unique demands, for food, snacks, taste, food menu, etc. at the table or in your bedroom There is no request that I was refused.||||The garden outside is maintained and you can expect to have a meal outside including a bonfire in the night without having to bother about insects and the like.||||The is wi-fi internet available at the reception for those who do not have or do not wish to use their mobile data. Read moreMahey Retreat was recommended by a friend from the travel trade and validated as a good choice by a local friend. As a solo traveller it was essential for me get these references before booking a place to stay in Leh where I was visiting for the first time. Mahey turned out to be a very pleasant place to stay. I stayed 4 nights in absolute comfort. Mohit, Kuldeep and Narendra managed the house keeping and F&B with efficiency. Almost everything that I asked for was made available, except a good black tea. I wish they provided a good selection of black tea. Internet inside rooms is a compromise but I was given an Airtel model which helped with WhatsApp and calling. Rooms were clean and bathrooms were maintained. Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet is decent in choice but can improve in taste. Sitting out garden area is the most beautiful part of the property. There is enough room for many groups to find their own lounging areas in the garden. Owners reside in the same compound and view of their kitchen garden from the room window with the backdrop of snow covered mountains is awe-inspiring. Highly recommend a stay at Mahey Retreat. The manager of the property Mr Sanju Thakur is an asset. He was most helpful in solving any problem and forthcoming in making timely suggestions to make one’s stay comfortable and enjoyable. Great value...
Read moreI have been travelling to Leh since last 5 years and have stayed in a variety of resorts/ hotels . Yet Mahey beats them all in terms of location, spectacular views, value for money. Away from the noise and dust of the roads and yet close to all the attractions and the market. A new property with spacious rooms, internet, comfortable beds, central heating, clean linen, clean toilets and huge windows opening to views of majestic snow capped mountain is there a better resort ? There is a feeling of openness and space in this resort unlike many of the fancy Leh hotels/resorts. One gets the feel of village life with fields inside the campus of the hotel with the owner family farming on the land. The owners run a very reputed adventure / rafting company called Splash Adventure and they help you plan time in ladhak. Last but not the least, the food is absolutely out of the world served in a modern dining room or out in the open lawns. And as a guest you are always welcome to home of the owners ( they stay just adjacent to the hotel ) and u get to live the ladhaki experience. The perfect choice !! and yes the owner is committed to many social causes including education in remote schools...
