Be ready guys this is going to be a detailed review with actual photos you will ever find for Old Maharashtra sadan (central Delhi caupernicus marg). This review is for those like me who are visiting delhi first time. I had many unanswered question where to stay, how to get booking, will everything will be fine with a tight budget while comming to delhi. This is a march 2023 review

Who can stay here: First thing is that this is not a general hotel you wont get booking at all unless you have a recommendation letter from a MP or MLA of Maharashtra or a letter/email from a working government employee of Maharashtra state or if you have interview call from UPSC/ IAS IPS post.

How to obtain booking: Email them a letter with necessary details check in and check out dates, they will give you confirmation two days or even one day or even on the day when you are planning to visit.

Check in/check out is done on 24hr basis Eg if i check in at 10am on monday my 24hrs day finishes on 10am Tuesday so i have to pay 2500/- for 24hrs. Try to check in at 12 pm or so. So you get lare checkout the nxt day.

Tariff : 2500 per day

How to reach here: This place is in central part of delhi which is mostly VIP area. Nearest metro station is mandi house metro station this place is 10 mins walk from metro station. This place is surrounded by other sadans and bhavans of different states. Google map gives perfect location.

Food: Food served in the canteen. Taste is nice as per rates, which runs on timely basis breakfast menu is closed at 11 am , Lunch starts at 12.30, dinner starts at 7 pm to 10pm.

General food rate: Chicken tandoori half 200 Chicken saoji 250 Paneer dishes 200 Roti 20 Naan 30 Rice 50 Pulao 150 Thali 126 with gst

Canteen review: As i read in other review, it is right. one or two waiters are rude but u can adjust. Table not clean upto the mark, Rush will be there if u are visiting in season time i:e Jan to may. To avoid any inconvenience try to order food in the room and enjoy it in AC try to give full order in one call itself. Try their white tandoori, chicken tandoori and paneer kadhai definitely price approx 500 for two pax.

Rooms review: Room are huge in size two seperate bed as per photo i have uploaded. Room are clean, cleaning staff is good ask them if you have any issue. Rooms have AC, some room have TV but you will only find 4 news channel on them. Rooms have one round table and two chair also. One cupboard. One mirror, Check the room before checkin. Gixxer in some room have loose socket. Hot and cold water with shower, WC, check if everything is working before taking the room. Some fan will make noise at the beginning spin. Try to take rooms on 3rd floor they are good. Place and area near the sadan is quite, calm and more importantly safe for family or married couples.

Why to stay here: This is situated in central part of delhi, so india gate, mandi house, national school of drama, mahatma gandhi museum, national war memorial, janpath, supreme court, cannught place , lal quilla, chandni chowk, karol bagh, rajouri garden all will fall in circle between the radius of 2km to 10km through metro and some 10-15 mins walk. Try to loiter by metro only its the best experience you can get. This place is very safe as it is a government of Maharashtra property. If you want any small food item or groceries there is one small shop just behind the nxt building (sangli apartments) you will get some groceries there. There are no shops, restaurants or any pharmacies around this sadan as this falls in a government and VIP area.

Note: if you liked this review. Take some time and contribute such detailed review of such other places or hotels so that it helps others make there trip easy.

Maharashtra Sadan is a government-owned building in Central Delhi that is supposed to serve the needs of the people of Maharashtra who are living or working in the city. However, the sedan's rules and regulations make it inaccessible to most people, including tax payers. For example, only government servants are allowed to enter the sadan. This means that if you are a private citizen, a student, or a businessperson, you are not allowed to enter the building, even if you have a legitimate reason to be there. This is ironic, considering that the sadan was built with tax payer money. In addition, the security staff at Maharashtra Sadan is often rude and unhelpful. They are not trained to deal with educated individuals, and they often treat you worthless in case you dont have a government ID (or you are not carrying one at that moment). This is a major problem, as it can make it difficult for people to get the help they need. The government of Maharashtra should take steps to make Maharashtra Sadan more accessible to the people of Maharashtra. They should allow all citizens to enter the building, and they should train the security staff to be more respectful and helpful. Until then, Maharashtra Sadan will continue to be a symbol of the government's indifference to...

Guys, this review is about the Maharashtra Sadan/ Cateen (Shrinivas hotel)

So i have been to Andra Bhavan, Karnataka Bhavan as this where my friends beling. I brought my frnz to get them tasted the Maharashtra Dishes.

My purpose of visiting Maharashtra Bhavan is to taste the home food like Bhakri, Chapati, Zunka, Paatal Bhaji, Misal Pav, Kholapuri Dishes!

The waiters are very much rude. They dont have any ethicates at all!!! Secondly, the authentic Maharashtrian Dishes are not available most of the times. Like i asked him to give chapati and not pulka, waiter is like both are same, asked many other Maharashtrian dishes he is like straight forward - NO!!!

No guidance on menu that these maharashtrian dishes are available and these are not! nthg

Full on arrogance, no proper response nthg!

My sincere request to the management! Guys, we live 1000s of KMS from home and we come here to taste our home food. Please treat us well and give us our home food. If there are no Maharashtrian dishes it as good as any other restaurant! Why Maharashtra Sadan.

Others who are reading reviews Pro tip- please goto new Maharashtra sadan it...

The Princely State of Sangli had its Residency on the present location of old Maharashtra Sadan on the then Lytton Road, now Copernicus Marg. On 8th March 1948 Sangli State got merged with Bombay Presidency and hence this property, after abolition of the Princely States in 1951, was assigned to the State of Bombay. Bombay State was thereafter split into the new states of Maharashtra and Gujarat on 1st May 1960. With the creation of the Maharashtra State, all properties of erstwhile Bombay State outside the then Bombay State came to the share of Maharashtra and hence, the Sangli Residency was taken over by Maharashtra State and renamed as Maharashtra House. Construction of a modest guest house on a portion of Sangli Plot commenced in 1962 and completed in 1963. The barracks and stables erected on this plot during 2nd world war by Ministry of Defence were converted to quarters for the in-house essential staff of the Maharshtra House.
