The primary advantage of Banga Bhawan is it's location at Delhi. The N Delhi railway station is nearby. Within 15 minutes one can reach there. Though in the central hub, the Hailey Rd is basically a residential area. Earlier there were single ownership houses with colonial legacy. Time changed alomg with change of ownership. Many multi storied buildings came up but with a touch of decorative and aesthetic sense. There are a few diplomatic enclaves over the road with security and that acts as a double benefit for the locals. Bhawan does not provide toiletries to the guests. Next time I will surely be a cautious State guest and should carry my own to avoid embarrassment of asking a mini bar of green 'Medimix' at different consumer outlets. Ultimately I ended up with a beauty soap of transparency. The food still carries the flavour of Bengal with the menu card. We arrived late at airport but the seasoned chauffeur called the restaurant personel for two rice meals at the nick of time (at 2:50 pm). Another delay of ten minutes we would have to manage on biscuits. The dinner was without any incident to share. 'Bonde' as a sweet dish was really a pleasant surprise. A post dinner strolling round the campus is a good idea if the weather is good, as it was today with 29°C and 57% humidity. The house is still under renovation and the 6th floor is not an exception with a lot of raw materials around the floor of the corridor. Possibly those will be utilized soon. If I want to limit myself with Banga Bhawan then the above is sufficient. Here people book for Govt works and stay for a couple of days. It saves their energy to look for hotels and finicky anxiety and obsession ove...

Read moreFew days back we had gone to Ohh ! Calcutta and now to Bijoli Grill restaurant at Banga Bhawan.
Bijoli Grill is a Bengali restaurant chain having several restaurants in Kolkata and one in Delhi at Banga Bhawan. They serve traditional Bengali Delicacies.
We ordered for Luchi, Kosha Mangsho, Rosogolla and Mutton Biriyani.
Food was absolutely mouth watering. The delectable Kosha Mangsho, the flavoursome Biriyani and the puffed hot luchis made for a scrumptious lunch.
The menu consisted of several Bengal favorites like mocha r ghanto, Lau chingri, Dab chingri, fish kobiraji etc.
The chef, waiters and the staff are all from Bengal since this is a government establishment.
If I compare between Ohh ! Calcutta and Bijoli Grill , they are both tough competitors in the race of taste, both of them serving authentic Bengali food. When it comes to price , needless to say Banga Bhawan puts much less stress on your pocket while fulfilling your desire for absolutely delicious ethnic food from the state of...
