The hotel is about 3 km from White Town, which is the main tourist attraction in Pondicherry. There is ample parking. Ola cabs ply in the area and one can use these to go about. But the roads are narrow and congested, and it is really not a good use of time traveling We were given a warm reception at the hotel. The reception area is huge and has a good seating space. The receptionist was really helpful and even gave us a different room to accommodate our baby. They are even helpful with providing information about the city and places to visit. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The housekeeping staff were efficient and professional. However, the lights were not all in working condition. Only the main light in the room and bathroom worked. There was no night lamp, nor did the light in the dressing area work. Even in the bathroom, the light above the mirror did not work. The taps seem to be rusting a bit. When we ordered room service, the food was served quickly. The pizza was really well made. The dinner items from the room service menu were so-so. For breakfast, on a weekday, there is no buffet, and the items are regular idli-wada, dosa/uttappam, poori, pongal and plain bread omelette. The weekend buffet also had the same menu, and nothing of the 'French' influence as the name suggests. Though there is a bar, it is not in the main building. If you opt to stay at this hotel, it would be a good idea to book only accommodation and not breakfast/dinner. There are many cafes that offer the authentic French experience for foodies, which sadly, this hotel does not. While the name and structure does give the impression of a real star hotel, it isn't really upto the...
Read moreIt was the worst hotel experience of my life. The hotel claims to be three star but it is worse than a cheap guest house. I had booked a room for three days and paid Rs. 4500 per night but I checked out in a day (the hotel refused to refund the tariff) due to the following reasons No cleanliness inside the room and in the corridor The fan stopped working after we checked in The gyser was not working (we had to go to the other room to take bath) The refrigerator was not functioning and had a few containers inside with a stale smell Poor lighting inside the room and bathroom The switch board and plugs were not working (we couldn't charge our cell phones) No inbuilt restaurant (so had to go out even for a cup of tea - of course there was an electric kettle along with tea sachets but just like all other stuff the switch board and the kettle were not working) There was no buffet breakfast. They served us a fixes plat of idlis, vada, puri and sabzi along with tea. So we were left with no option but to eat whatever was given. They did not even provide tissues on the table. The bathroom was poorly equipped - no shower cap, no napkins and of course no running hot water. The hotel is definitely under staff and the ambience was ghostly. We felt we were the only ones residing there. No security at the gate and I had to the reception to call someone to pick our luggage. And cheery on the cake - there was no water bottle inside the room. When we inquired, they initially asked us to get it for Rs. 40. Later I insisted so they provided two bottles.
Overall it was a terrible experience. I highly recommend never to...
Read moreAfter a tiring journey, it was lovely to have a hot shower and a great breakfast. Even though the restaurant was closed due to maintenance. The chef is able to cook food to such a high standard. The cost is more than reasonable. The room service is fast and cheap.
We stayed 3D/2 nights at the Hotel Bon Sejour and enjoyed it thoroughly. I thought the staff were uniformly wonderful, from the helpful people at the front desk to the polite and good-natured servers in the restaurant to the friendly and efficient women and men who cleaned my room and brought us various things. I also loved the feel of Hotel Bon Sejour. Our room had a high ceiling, crown molding, and lots of wood furniture. The bed was amazingly comfortable. And the hotel grounds created a little oasis in the busy city of Pondicherry. The hotel is also located an easy auto rickshaw ride from the beach and the main shopping areas of town. The rooms are clean and tidy with tea and coffee sachets available. The shower was powerful. The reception area is large and spotless (see the photos) and the dining room can seat about 100. The entrance to the hotel is quite grand and large and it provides the overall ambience of calm and peaceful. The cost of this hotel is very reasonable, the rooms are clean and tidy and the food is delicious. The location is about 5 mins in a drive to the central marketplace, and a bit longer to the sea, which is the...
