Stayed at The Orchid (next to Radisson, Patiala-Zirakpur highway), and it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had — especially for the price they charge.
The hotel entrance is tucked away behind the main property, poorly marked, dimly lit, and gives off a shady vibe. No bellboy, no warm welcome — just cold, untrained staff. The whole place felt rigid, isolated — almost like a rundown military camp with no sense of hospitality.
At check-in, they couldn’t even manage basic change. I was asked to pay ₹5000 and the rest “later,” despite informing them about my early checkout. For a hotel charging premium rates, this was shocking.
Wi-Fi didn’t work, and it took multiple complaints and a visit from the staff before it got fixed. No help with luggage. The room was on the 9th floor though the place looked mostly empty.
Worst part — I got 5–6 calls the next morning before checkout time, disrupting an important meeting. No courtesy. No professionalism.
Verdict: Dingy atmosphere, disorganized staff, and zero value for...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. I visited along with my parents to book multiple rooms for my wedding, but the process turned out to be unnecessarily tedious.
I had to make several visits—not entirely due to the staff’s fault (sales team unavailability, tariff changes, etc.)—but the lack of clear and efficient communication was glaring. On each visit, I was quoted a different rate, and the blame was casually shifted from one team member to another.
After my third visit, I was assured that I wouldn’t have to come again and that the deal would be closed, but no one ever followed up. Instead, I was met with remarks like, “Oh, you’re here for the third time now,” which only added to the unprofessional impression. As a guest, the least I look forward from a representative in hospitality industry is Respect!?
For a new property, this reflects poorly on the direction they are heading. In hindsight, I am glad the deal didn’t go through, as I can only imagine the operational gaps I might have...
Read moreThe Orchid at Zirakpur, Chandigarh, about 25 minutes from Chandigarh railway station is nice and well-kept, though I did feel that having a little more greenery or a garden area would make evening walks more enjoyable, Swimming is small as compared to a 5 star hotel... These improvements could have given it a more luxurious vibe.
What really stood out for me was the hospitality – it honestly feels like Taj level. The staff are just amazing, always warm and polite, and the best part is that every single time you cross them, they greet you with a smile. It makes you feel so welcomed and cared for throughout the stay.
Breakfast has plenty of options and everything tasted really good. The rooms are decently sized, neat, and very comfortable. A bathtub in the washroom would have been a nice extra, but overall the upkeep and cleanliness were spot on.
'All in all, it’s a place where the hospitality and warmth of the staff make the stay...
