We actually booked at Hotel Royal Lakhina, 100m down the road on Google, but that hotel does not exist and looks like it has never existed. If you call the number on that listing or the number from booking.com you get someone from Desert Moon who claims the hotel is under renovation but they can accommodate you.||They charge you the same price but the standard is noticeably lower than Royal Lakhina claims. This is clearly a SCAM.||The rooms and services here are not great. We had to have the toilet hose replaced because it was leaking constantly all over the floor, and the shower head replaced because it was all clogged up. OK, sometimes things need fixing, but these are obvious maintenance issues that should not require a request from a guest. Both issues were addressed very quickly though, which is partly why my rating is not lower.||Rooms allegedly have cable TV but in two of our rooms, no channels were available because the subscription had not been paid, and in the third some (though none of the premium) channels worked the first three days but the whole STB stopped working after that.||The bathroom of one of the rooms was less than half the size of the others. One of the rooms had pigeons roosting in the adjacent light wells on both sides, which were very noisy but nothing compared to the racket from the restaurant. Our rooms were on the floor below and every chair movement echoed horribly.||The included breakfast options are limited; they strongly suggested the Indian choices, which we'd had enough of on our trip. They did make available (very small) serves of porridge from our second day. There are other non-Indian options on the menu for an extra cost but I don't know if they could have been provided. The scrambled eggs we ordered came as fried eggs, one with the white barely half-cooked.||There seems to only be one staff member regularly around who can manage to communicate in English (you have to wait for him to take your order and longer if he's already dealing with another English-speaking group) but it often felt like he thinks you're too much trouble yet also put out that we didn't eat dinner in their restaurant. (It was the same menu as every restaurant in Rajasthan, at hotel prices, on their rooftop which was freezing.)||When the owner thought we'd posted a one-star review, he visited in the morning to challenge us, but the service did seem to become more amenable thereafter.||When we left the room key with reception, rooms were not made up unless specifically requested.||The location is a bit out of the way: you'd have to walk 500m to reliably find tuktuks and Uber ridiculously wants to charge out of town rates; there's not much else around. It is quiet though and has a good view of the fort across town and the cenotaphs right across the road.||When GozoCabs cancelled the taxi we'd booked to take us to the next city with less than 30 minutes notice, the hotel organised another car for us so quickly that we still left at the time we'd planned, albeit at 25% higher cost, and the 500โน discount they'd offered was forgotten by the time we reached the...

I recently stayed at Desert Moon Hotel, and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. This place seems like a scam, and I regret not reading reviews before booking.
First off, the online booking process was a complete rip-off. The photos online donโt even remotely resemble the reality of this dump. What was promised in terms of amenities and quality is nothing but a lie. Upon arrival, I was shocked to find the room was in a terrible stateโdust everywhere, a musty smell in the air, and the furniture looked like it hadn't been touched in years.
There were no towels, no soap, and absolutely no toilet paper. When I called the front desk to ask for these essentials, the staff had zero knowledge of hospitality and seemed annoyed that I even asked. After waiting for over an hour, they finally brought the bare minimum, but it was clear they couldn't care less.
The room had no latches on the doors, which is extremely concerning, especially for women traveling alone. The lack of basic security was alarming. I didn't feel safe at all and couldn't even lock the door properly.
The bathroom was disgustingโdirty, with stains on the walls, and a toilet that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I couldn't even bring myself to use it, so I had to leave the hotel and find somewhere else to go.
In short, Desert Moon Hotel is a scam. They have no understanding of basic hospitality and don't seem to care about the comfort or safety of their guests. This hotel is a disaster, and I wouldnโt recommend it to anyone. Save your money and your peace of mind by staying far away...
ย ย ย Read moreWe arrived at Hotel Desert Moon late after long travels. The hotel location is pretty far from the fort and there is nothing really in the area - you do require a tuk tuk to get anywhere. Tired and exhausted, we made our way to our room and we were considerably disappointed. Everything in the room felt like it was falling apart, lights not working, paint coming off the walls, it desperately needed some attention. The bed sheets were stained and didnโt feel clean at all and there were things left over in the bin. The bathroom was OK but there was a cotton curtain in shower (?) which had mould growing at the bottom. If we hadnโt arrived so late, we would have changed hotels. In the morning, around 7:30am, we got woken up by techno music coming from the corridor (I think it was from someoneโs phone) and then by loud banging and skreeching from, what we think, was the restaurant being set up above. We asked the staff for the WIFI code, but no one seemed to be able to give us the correct one so couldnโt use it. It took about 8 minutes of us running the water for it to get hot and we were charged for the bottles of water in our rooms. The staff were lovely and very kind and the pick up service was impeccable but unfortunately, we got the impression no one really knew what they were doing. I think with accumulation of all the above, we would not...
