I am a 50 y.o. male travelling solo in Jaisalmer with the specific intention of doing some astrophotography out in the desert. With that context, I only stayed in the fort one night, then was out in the desert for 4 nights. Mr Ba's guesthouse is located at a high point in the old fortress, right on top of the north wall. The location is excellent; you look out over the lower city from the cafe balcony, and along the steep city wall if you look past the neighbouring cafe. There appears to only be two rooms, so most of the time you can expect to have upstairs to yourself with all peace and quiet, with Mr Ba's office and cafe kitchen located downstairs. Rooms are safe and comfortable with all the necessary amenities, and Mr Ba was the soul of hospitality for the short time I stayed there. The location is in the corner of the fort, so you can enjoy walking all the winding streets and meeting the enthusiastic merchants along the way. Next to the guesthouse is a sunset lookout point over the low city. Inside Jaisalmer fort it would be relatively safe and very quiet after 10pm. In the busy daytime you will attract a lot of attention as a tourist. The citizens depend almost wholly on tourism and farming, so you quickly adjust to it. Highly recommended is to walk out to Vyas Chatri cenotaph at sunset, and Gadisar lake at the moment of sunrise. One big tip is this - Mr Ba's relatives can organise trips out into the deep desert, and this I would highly recommend. The frills are simple if those frills are what you want, or otherwise go completely into desert timing (there is no fixed schedule) desert planning (there is no fixed plan) and desert living (very simple yet all is complete). I will come back to stay at Mr Ba's place again in future, and make Jaisalmer my starting point to go into the...
Read moreAfter reading a very long review from a girl yesterday, i felt the need to post something as well over here. After only reading the first line i was getting tears in my eyes, chills over my whole body and knew where is was going. In the beginning of this year i spend two nights at Ba's Cafe and Restaurant. Ba is the owner and also have some rooms where you can stay. At first i thought, just as the girl, he was just being polite. He entered my room without permission with two beers, one for me, one for him. I really felt uncomfortable and said to him i will meet at the terrace because they had live music that night. In the evening it was only the two of us after everyone left. He was saying a lot of things that made me feel very uncomfortable. I booked a desert trip for the next day with him during the day and i felt scared he was gonna join and i felt in doubt even of going. Then he told me he wasn't, and i was really relieved. because if he was coming, i would definitely canceled the trip because it felt really wrong. As a solo woman traveller, i will not recommend to stay at Ba's or to book a trip over there!! The other review made very clear he was showing the same interest and even touched her. I'm feeling sick. This man needs to know that his behavior is...
Read moreOdette & Sergio visiting from Spain. We can say it louder but not clearer: EXCELLENT. Ba's Mirage Hotel is undoubtedly your perfect place to stay in Jaisalmer.
Excellent service and assistance at all times. All staff is super friendly and willing to assist you in anything you may need and provide wise advise in any matter. They recommended us to do a night dessert safari and it was amazing. We trully want to thank them all, specially Ba. Hotel also offers pick-up service.
Excellent location right inside Jaisalmer Fort. We stayed in a room located in the second floor. The room was amazing, with a quality bed for a good sleep, equiped with a fan on the roof and AC. Bathroom has everything you may need. There is a roof-top with incredible views to the entire city. Wonderful food offering too!
We highly recommend you to stay at this place if you are looking for a best quality offering, great location and safe stay. You will really feel like...
