Where else in the world can you stay in an 800 year old fort? I’m pretty sure nowhere! ||||The booking.com description of Mud Mirror does it no justice in saying that it is near the fort when in fact it is inside the very walls of fort! The views from it’s rooftop restaurant and bar are spectacular because, and I cannot stress this enough, you will be atop the walls of an 800 year old fort! Please do yourself a favour and stay here. The rooms are also gorgeous, particularly the mud wall rooms, and the staff are just lovely. Lala, the owner, is a bank of local knowledge and will go the the fullest lengths to make sure your stay is all you dreamed of. ||||You can also relax with a cold beer and some of the tastiest food around! At night, if you’re lucky you might get to see some of Jaisalmer’s white bats flitting around (one for the nature nerds) these were only discovered by western science in 2013 and are quite a spectacle. ||||Mud Mirror also has a camel trekking package where you can spend a night in the desert. It is incredible and amazing value for money. If you’re into nature and would like to see the stars at their fullest you should definitely include this as part of your stay. ||||Honestly, Jaisalmer was one of my favourite places we visited on our trip in India and that was due in no small part to Mud Mirror...
Read moreMy stay at Mud Mirror Guest House in Jaisalmer was nothing short of magical. Nestled within the old fort, this cozy guest house offers an authentic Rajasthani experience with stunning views of the golden city and the desert beyond.
Rooms & Ambiance: The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and beautifully decorated with traditional Rajasthani decor. The blend of mud and mirror work creates a warm, rustic charm that immediately makes you feel at home. The view from my window was mesmerizing, especially at sunrise.
Service: The hosts were incredibly hospitable, going out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay.
Location: Being inside the Jaisalmer Fort, the guest house is perfectly located for exploring the city. All the major attractions, like the Jain temples and the local markets, are within walking distance.
Food: The rooftop restaurant was a highlight! I enjoyed delicious meals while overlooking the panoramic views of the the city. The quiet ambiance on the rooftop was perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.

The Good: I love my stay here in the Fort!
Didn't expect such hospitality! We were welcomed with complimentary chai masala and our room was cosy. The best part is undoubtedly the ease of access to the sunrise in the morning. No need to get out to the rooftop. The endless horizon is there for you and you just need to flip open the curtains.
It is also next to the cluster of Jain temples. You could spy on the religious men and tourists from their rooftop. Their vegetarian menu is recommendable as well if you are tired of walking and want a meal.
The Not So Good: Nothing much. Everything is alright. Waiting for the hot water to run takes a bit of patience and 1.5 buckets of water. 😂 Don't bother with the aircon. It's not workable, but that's fine as winter is chilly and there's a ceiling fan.
Other Notes: There's no ride hailing app in Jaisalmer, so either haggle with the tuk-tuk driver from the airport or inform the accoms about your intention a day before. It costs around 500 rupees from the airport to the foot...
