This restaurant is located on the rooftop of our hostel (Swan hostel/Prithvi palace), and has a magnificent overview on Jaisalmer and its golden fort, because it is located on a hill. They have a great sitting area in the shade where a cool breeze provides a much welcomed escape from the Jaisalmer heat. Not only is it always clean, they also have a large menu with excellent food choices. For breakfast, they have nice boiled eggs, multiple choices of omelets and tea. For lunch, I recommend the tomato and vegetable soup, and the mashed potatoes are also very nice. Also try the multiple fruit juices if you want something cold. For diner, they cook great indian food and if you want there is also pizza, pasta and french fries. They also have cold mineral water and King fisher beer. But what really makes me want to recommend this restaurant is the incredibly friendly staff, who really deserve such a good review. If you ask them to cook without milk or koriander or something else because of allergies, then that is no problem at all. When my girlfriend was sick, they even brought the food to our rooms. And when I needed water in the middle of the night, they woke up to give me nice cold mineral water. So whenever you need to relax, have a drink or eat some food in Jaisalmer, I recommend you to pay this restaurant a visit!...
Read moreLocation : convenient.
Parking : Average
This is a roof top restaurant, on second floor (no elevator)
Staff : As usual, in an Indian city famous among foreign travellers, the natives are less preferred. This mentality was evident among the waiting staff. Had to wait 20 mins before anyone even noticing me. That too, I had to draw attention of the waiter and ask him for the menu.
Ambience : Good
Good view from the roof top
Seating : Just enough
Ordering and waiting : Waiting time was normal (5-10 mins)
Food ordered : Rajasthani thali (average), lemon lassi (good) & laal maas (too much red colour used. Beware if you are eating with your hands. Taste is no where near authentic. Just average)
Pricing : Very high, considering the overall experience. Total bill costed me Rs 830.00
Payment modes : Only cash. Neither cards nor UPI accepted.
Verdict : Can give this place a try if you have no other better options. I have no idea how this place appear among the top rated restaurants in town on...
Read moreDefinitely a great experience. It's on the edge of the city in jaisalmer on the highest hill on the rooftop of the Waldorf. So - spectacular view and restaurant ambience. Food for the most part was excellent. Presentation was impeccable and creative. Service was great as well. Sommelier knowledgable and helpful A few of the dishes were better on presentation than flavor (The Sun for example), which is why this wasn't perfect. We absolutely loved the pasta, fish, and venison dishes. In terms of dessert, the treasure chest was our kids favorite. Also - if your kids are even slightly adventurous, this was a tasting menu they can probably handle. Our friends ended up eating the majority of their food and enjoying it! I strongly recommend romany restaurant in jaisalmer.. please come here...
