Reef Valley Resort — Hotel in Shaheed Dweep

I stayed at this place on 25th-26th May 2023. The rooms are average. I had a leaking toilet seat. (Room 104). But there was this certain behaviour by the staff that totally put me off.

This place has no cellular internet connectivity throughout and even the minimum of the signal goes away when you’re inside your room. They have a wifi setup that is only limited to the reception. So if you want to access internet, you’ll have to sit at the reception. Not complaining about the lack of connectivity here tbh. When you’re in a place like Neil Island, you are aware that you will have limited connectivity. Its a boon to have your stay provide you with Wifi. But the catch is that it is being managed extremely irresponsibly. At around 9:30 PM, I went to the reception to access internet, when I realised that there’s no wifi. I inquired the staff if the wifi has been switched off, they said yes. I requested them to switch it on and they outrightly denied. I asked them that it would most likely be a simple switch to turn on and they said that they’ll need the manager’s permission. I asked them where the manager is, and they said that he’s gone home. I asked them that if there’s a case of medical emergency right now, whom will we contact and how? Cause there’s no wifi, no signal strength and the manager is missing, to which I was responded that sorry, the Wifi won’t be turned on.

The rooms are spacious and clean. It has a huge balcony as well with lots of greenary around. You can find a lot of varieties of plants in the property. Location wise is not that great as there is nothing around. But if you want to just go and relax then it is good. Main downside are the strict timings. Breakfast also has very strict timing here, if you after this then nothing will be available. Also the checkout timing is not really good. The checkout time they said us was 9 and even breakfast is only till 9 here. We went for scuba early morning around 6 and reached back only around 9. We asked them to extend our checkout time the previous day itself but they didn't nudge. After lot of requests and routing it through our travel coordinator, they agreed till 10. And within this 1 hour we all 4 girls had to have our breakfast and also have bath. We did manage it, but 5 mins to 10 we had one person at the door waiting for us to checkout. I found this very stupid that one person is standing there and constantly watching over us get ready. We weren't sitting and relaxing at room, we were genuinely trying to get things done within the time. Not only one person but there were 4 other cleaning boys waiting like it was the only room left to clean. We didn't see that many people in the property as well so I really don't understand this urgency in cleaning. Such behaviour is not worth any rating. Also there is hardly any light in the room.
