Hotel Alpine Crest — Hotel in Sikkim

Hotel staff started cheating with us from the very first day. We first came to this Hotel and we selected one room and also fixed the rate of the room. Although we thought of getting a better room so got out to look for alternative hotels but eventually came back in another 30 minutes and thought of staying here only. But when we were checking in they checked us into another room. This was the first scam. The rooms were not clean at all, rooms smelly, the bedsheets and linen were dirty, the commode had faeces flowing which we managed with. At the day of checkout when we were paying the man at the reception desk who refused to say his name demanded more money and started behaving very rude and was shouting at my wife when she stated the fact that we were given another room and top of that was demanding more money. He repeatedly refused to tell us his name. There was this other man we had discussions with (a long haired man) was very gentle and kind with us, he was a very nice guy. To avoid more chaos we eventually had to pay more. We came here on people's suggestion but I would not recommend this place at all to anyone. It was like nightmare. I've booked standard room but they given that room to someone else. No issues. Now they shifted us to the 5th floor without lift in terrace in their so called executive room. It was worse than any standard room. The card from DTH was missing, the water bottle and glasses of previous guests are still there, no slippers for bathroom, wet bathroom mat, blood stained bedsheet, clogged water supply, leaked basin tap, no electricity. The hotel standard room was even hell. The washroom was full of cigarette buds, used hand soaps, female hair and mud foot prints everywhere. The commode was even dirty. The geyser was not supplying water to the main bathing tap. The almirah was full of damaged led tv, set top box and old remotes, seems like they are using their room no. 201 as store room. They don't have any in house restaurant and the service boy brought all the food stuffs from nearby restaurant and charged very high including his own commission. I will personally suggest that if you are seeking a budget hotel in Gangtok and if you are ready to face such consequences, even after that think multiple times before booking this hotel. Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Alpine Crest with my family of 5. The owners are incredibly polite and hospitable - they treated us like family and provided excellent guidance for our entire Sikkim trip. The staff took care of everything so well that we could just focus on enjoying our vacation. Food was delicious and the whole experience was very budget-friendly. The personal touch and warmth made it feel like a home away from home.
