Most of the fixtures in the room were either broken, or had to be replaced.
The staff was nice, but their behaviour or hospitality wasn't special at all, almost nobody greeted us, or even said, "Good Morning" or "Hello", in fact, majority of them didn't even know half of the services provided at the hotel they worked at (for example, one receptionist didn't even know whether the hotel had laundry services, yet he told me that the hotel does have laundry services, but in reality, it doesn't have any sort of laundry service. (Imagine my confusion!)
Also, there is a male receptionist who simply greets on the phone by saying "Hello", that's all, no 'Good Morning" or acknowledging the call has been connected to, such as, "Thanks for calling Hotel Haywizz", or a simple "Hello, this is reception, how may I help you?", nothing like that, and he was wearing a simple T-shirt, I mean, cmon, a dress code serves a purpose, does it not?
And the biggest issue that I faced was the 8:30 AM Check out policy, I mean, who in the world keeps the check-out timing that early? So, as soon as it crosses 9AM, we were asked to vacate the room ASAP as apparently the room that we stayed in for the past 3 days had been "sold-out" as informed by the receptionist, whereas we were told and reassured on the day of checking in that we could check-out as per our convenience, regardless of the 8:30AM check-out rule, hence, my wife and I were in no ruse to check out that early.
Lastly, the Internet connection, which is just purely bad, I think I could browse the Internet using the Hotel's Wi-Fi for about an hour out of the total 72 hours that I spent there.
PLEASE, HAYWIZZ, I understand you charge a very modest fee for your rooms, but at least try to deliver what you promise, that's all I am asking.
and, please change up the Breakfast a little bit every now and then, as after the 2nd day, I got super bored!
the lift in the building definitely needs to be checked for maintenance, it makes some crazy sounds and jitters too!
Although one thing I must acknowledge and appreciate is that there was another male receptionist during our check out, and he was really sweet and courteous in his behaviour, as he allowed us to stay in the lobby and also have our lunch in the dining room, that was a very good gesture, I wish I knew the gentleman's name.
I would only recommend this hotel to couples or families who are on a tight budget and are looking to stay in Port Blair for not more than 2 days/nights.

Read moreThis hotel is not at all recommended. I had fallen in the trap, seeing the photos of jacuzzi and swimming pool, but had a very bad experience here. I agree with most of the reviews that the infrastructure lacks a lot.
We were made to wait in the reception area for an hour since all of the 3 choice of rooms that were allotted to us had air condition problems. The hotel has centralized air conditioning that does not work for most of the time, or is set at a very uncomfortable and hot temperature. The weather conditions in Havelock are not very good, it is very very hot and humid, and without AC, this place is not worth paying for. Also, the room becomes very humid due to the jacuzzi, and there is chlorine smell all around.
The other problem is that while most hotels in Havelock are dependent on generators for electricity, this hotel had power cuts on all the evenings. The staff says that the DG set has become overheated and will not run. This becomes very embarrassing when all hotels around the place has power, and has lights and music, while this one is in darkness.
The restaurant buffet has very limited options, and most of the times there is no refill of finished food trays, but the taste of food is very good, especially the payasam. The pool and jacuzzi are also good and working, but without electricity, and in the darkness, these facilities do not make much sense. The staff are very good and polite, and tries a lot, but the infrastructure kills all...
Read moreHotel is smaller than I expected, rooms were of average size and clean. Restaurant was bigger than expected and they served good food.. had lunch and dinner there. Limited parking and you enter the hotel straight from the road. ||||Service was good, they made quick packed sandwich, juice and fruits as we had to take early morning ferry to Havelock Islands. Room was clean however the Air conditioning in one of the room we took was not great and the lighting in one of the rooms were not good - made you feel sleepy. I had some trouble with the electronic room locks in one of the rooms. Not too many places around the hotel to walk around.... perfect for transit stay. I thought Makruzz pier is close to this hotel however I was told Makruzz have moved to a different pier - if I had known this, I would have opted for a different hotel (maybe) but still no regrets for transit stay.||||Few things to remember and that\s common in Port Blair.. phone connectivity is poor in most of the places (even with BSNL it's not great but I'm told BSNL is the best - I took a BSNL SIM just for this trip and my other numbers Airtel and Vodofone were equally bad), data on phone just forget it, limited internet which is very slow even in hotels hence don't plan your trip basis credit cards. Credit cards do not work in many hotels due to network issues, so...
