Hotel Shyama — Hotel in Tamil Nadu

The picture on this website gives a better impression. The actual location is in the middle of a narrowish lane away from the main city. It is surrounded by buildings on all sides. The room for two is small considering it is in Nagercoil. The bathroom is old and so it looks a bit shabby though it had been kept clean enough. There is an AC which is runs well. TV with mainly Tamil channels. There is a lift. There is no balcony. No views at all. There is wifi accessed via password which I did not use so I cannot comment upon. It is 15-20 mins by auto to the bus stand and nearly 15 mins to the railway station so it is by no means near to them. The staff is courteous and you get a mineral water bottle complimentary. There is no in house restaurant. You may get coffee (which was not good) or tea or food in the room if you order...

Hotel Shyama Nagercoil is a professionally managed hotel which provides excellent quality rooms at budget prices. Mr. Madhusudhan at the Reception assisted with our Checkin and he is courteous and speaks great English!! Rooms were small but clean, AC was working fine and Hot Water available via Bathroom Tap, use bucket. But no Hot Water via Shower. This hotel is located backside of OLD BUS STAND (Anna Bus Stand?) and is just 3 kmts from Nagercoil Junction and 1.5 kmts from New Bus Stand. There is also an excellent VEGETARIAN hotel, HOTEL VIJAY just 50 mts away on the Main Road. Walkable distance to Lord Nagaraja Temple. If staying in Nagercoil, then Hotel Shyama is your destination. Our recent stay at this hotel was an average experience. While there were some areas that could be improved, we found some aspects to be satisfactory.

Upon arrival, we noticed that the room could benefit from a more thorough cleaning. We also encountered some minor issues with the cleanliness of the bedding.

The availability of hot water was inconsistent, and the condition of the towels could be better.

The bathroom showed some signs of wear and tear and could benefit from further attention to cleanliness. The check-in process could be more welcoming.

Overall, our stay at this hotel was average. While there were some areas that could be improved, we believe that with some attention to detail, the hotel could offer a more comfortable and enjoyable...
