I recently had the pleasure of staying at Quality Inn Viha Kumbakonam and it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality that set the tone for the entirety of my stay.

Situated in heart of the Kumbakonam, this place is a traveler's delight. Roughly 500m from Kumbakonam Railway Station, they are aptly located. Their amenities are at par with hotels in any other major city of India.

Their initiative to provide in-house travel assistance for visiting places around at nominal market rates is very good. I could confidently book hotel and chauffeur driven cab, for my whole trip in advance, avoiding the hassle of bargaining with local operators. Their travel booking desk is very interactive and provided me with a customized plan fitting all my requirements.

Reception desk personnel, restaurant captain and crew, security personnel and the drivers - all have a smiling and welcoming demeanor. Having experience of travelling extensively in Tami Nadu, I am happily delighted to meet a fully English speaking crew at this hotel.

Driver provided by them has in depth knowledge of the local attractions and doubled as a tour guide too. His expertise of the interior village routes made the trip perfect. He is very flexible and helped me visit local attractions on the way, some of them even out of my itinerary.

Every rating I struggled with. There were elements of 5 star and beyond quality- the room furniture was excellent, room is spacious, construction quality was good, had lot of quality amenties, freebies (peanut chikki and chips), bath decor was excellent. But the flush did not work, mostly because of some water pressure setting. Service was not predictable. They made me wait 15 minutes for toilet paper, but other times they were responsive. They gave a wheel chair ramp- which is good, but at the same time on the main steps there is no railing or support. How are non wheel chair bound people but who need support , supposed to handle this. I saw 4 people struggling to get up the steps. And the support staff is just staring as they are afraid to physically touch any of these persons (caste consciousness?). This is a universal problem in India but for a Quality Inn I would expect this to be a common sense fixture. Wouldnt cost 100$ or 10000 Rupees to do this. The breakfast is just about ok, but for the price it is good (they add ~ 500 INR for 2 persons). The staff supporting breakfast were reasonable. Women were sharper and more alert than the men.
