Hotel Jag-Laxmi Palace — Hotel in Ujjain

I travelled to Ujjain with my parents and was very skeptical about the hygiene at Hotels near temple. But Hotel Jag Laxmi Palace came to rescue. We stayed for 2 days over weekend and here's my honest review about overall stay. pros:- Spacious rooms with powerful ACs and provide proper toiletries, towels and kettle and tea/ coffee bags.(It is a luxury in budget hotels in Ujjain near the temple) Hygienic and big bathrooms (again a luxury compared to hotels near Mahakal temple) Convenience of transportation from both Railway station and Mahakaal corridor. Taxis and e-rickshaws are available just right outside the Hotel, yet the surroundings are peaceful. Owner visits property so the quality is maintained and is an extremely polite chap open to feedback. Cons:- Rooms on the ground floor open on the road so that can be an issue. (However, we were alloted room on the first floor) no restaurant or pantry for kitchen made tea/coffee (But Hotel staff is kind enough to get it for you from nearby tea stall). No lift as it's a limited room hotel but can be an issue if you have a medical issue climbing stairs (wasn't a problem for us though) Overall really good experience especially traveling with family. Booked Jag-Laxmi Palace for 2 nights between 17 and 19 June.

During my booking i mentioned that my parents (Senior Citizens) will be checking in at 4am as the train reached Ujjain at 3am. The manager was prompt enough to call me and explained that this booking will need another additional day as they will have to block a room to accommodate my parents. I said ok and blocked another day. Confirmation was also shared in Whatsapp.

When my parents (Senior Citizens) turned up at 4am to checkin they where told that the room was not available. They went searching for another hotel and booked it. When i checked with the manager he said - its a mistake on their side - it was a communication gap between people who changed between shifts.

How is this acceptable when i double confirmed with the manager and made all the arrangements for my senior citizen parents. Very unprofessional service. People should stay away...

An absolutely pathetic hotel !!! All broken equipments or facilities. The bathroom fitting and tiles were found in a broken condition. Additionally, located near the railway line, the hotel stinks with cow dung and urine. We made an advance payment of ₹1000 and now they will be expecting us to pay the remaining balance of ₹2000 in return of such a horrible service.
