Hotel Chakrah by Hermitage — Hotel in Uttarakhand

We booked the female dormitory and this is what it looked like.

I booked this dormitory specially pertaining to it being a female dormitory for my safety in a place unknown, but the doors were such and the curtains did not even cover the entire window pane. As you climb the stairs, you can see the room is fully visible. Would you feel safe here?

The staff was so impolite and inhospitable that when we were conveying our concerns to them, they kept put his finger on his lips and told me, "please be quite and sit there, I'll talk to my owner."

We told them to upgrade our rooms as their bell boy showed us all the rooms which evidently showed that the property was empty (which made us feel more unsafe), to which they said that is not possible. We will not update the rooms and we "ASSURE" you your safety. Well, is my safety assured if I'm not vigilant myself? I clearly told them it's a violation of my privacy and the owner, Anurag, abruptly said, "you can complain to goibibo, it is me who has to approve the cancellation. You see what I'll do" and he did not approve my cancellation.

When I told him that you did not post any video on Goibibo where the doors are such is mentioned or even the pictures are there, else I wouldn't have booked the property, to which he said, "aap batao apni property ke baare mein aisi information kaun dikhata hai. Saari properties sab kuchh nahi dikhati."

This is highly unprofessional as I was travelling with my mother (55), aunts (65 & 58), sister (34), niece (11) and wanted to give them an experience of the dormitory. But I cannot trust the safety of my family with anyone based on their words when I can see and sense that...

There wasn’t an option for a zero star else I would have opted for that ! Booked the room through contacting them directly where the concerned person shared pictures of rooms which were totally misleading. I booked 4 rooms which were supposedly deluxe rooms with AC and Balcony I checked in around 4:30 and I was asked to pay the amount in total immediately before even checking in. After going to the rooms I had to immediately contact the reception regarding no TVs in two of the rooms and one room smelling like a fish market. After 30 mins of constant complaints they changed one of the rooms and installed TVs in the other two ! Later when I arrived after dinner, the AC of my room wasn’t working and after 2 hours when I approached the front desk. The person on duty said that he can’t do anything at this time and told me to turn the fan on a higher number and sleep ! After me objecting to his behaviour and response, his reply was that I can’t do anything apne jo krna hai krlo Zyada se Zyada review he daaloge ! This is the response I got from the person on duty at night on 10.06.2025-11.06.2025 night ! The rooms are below standard and they advertise to misled people to book their rooms with pictures which are far from the reality here ! I haven’t dealt with any hotel staff with this much attitude and rudeness! Don’t know why people rate this place so well maybe because it’s mostly Indian guests.

First of all the staff is super cold, didn’t receive a single smile in one week staying there. It feels like those typical Indian places where the owner doesn’t run the place cause there is no engagement, no love for the detail, no drive for improvement.

The pictures on booking are fake. There is not one single plant in the building and the ones on the rooftop are dying. No wooden furniture as well.

Warm water didn’t work in the private rooms of my friends.

When I entered the dorm it looked like a battle field despite it was already empty and it was 2 pm, they have Checkin by 12. 2 days later there was some electrician work going on and they did not clean up the mess in the dorm only after my notice.

My bed in the dorm was super noise because of the unstable construction. Luckily I was the only one for most of my stay.

The doors are not sealed well, it’s noisy and you hear the road especially at the street faced rooms. One night at 1 am some Indian guys were testing the noisiness of their motorcycle exhausts for an hour and I’m sure the hotel staff was involved.

The place is not social at all and the rooftop is not inviting for chillout.

The place would have potential but not with this management, there is no true love and engagement to create a cozy...
